Financial Planning is a cornerstone of the MD Financial Management’s service offer. The Associate Financial Planner is responsible for providing centralized financial planning and paraplanning support to the senior financial planner groups in the MD Financial Planning Office. You will use your expertise in financial planning to support the preparation of often complex financial plans by interpreting and combining financial information available from multiple sources.

 

 Is this role right for you? In this role, you will: 

 

Monitor incoming demand of financial plans for the team and assign the cases to the most appropriate planner to maintain our Service Level Agreement (SLA).
Maintain and improve our processes and documentation.
Act as a liaison with our reporting team to ensure our results are reporting properly. Propose improvements to our dashboards and the way we track key performance indicators (KPIs).
Actively share knowledge and experience to enhance the development of all team members.

Team with the regional advisor to develop comprehensive financial plans with varying levels of complexity.
Constantly improve your knowledge on all financial planning topics, areas, and functions as set out by FP Canada/IPF and MD Financials’ policies and procedures.
Champion a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Scotiabank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
Proactively contribute to ongoing professional practice in the MD Financial Planning Office by maintaining awareness and currency of the latest legislative and other financial industry changes that may affect financial planning standards and practices

 

 Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have: 

 

Min. Three years experience as a financial planner and/or client-facing advisor.
A degree in Business, Commerce, or Financial Planning.
A QAFP designation, with willingness to continue deepening your knowledge in financial planning and acquire the CFP title. If in Quebec, you have started your courses to obtain your IPF designation.
Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation or the equivalent IPF designation for Quebec residents. Or willingness to obtain within the next year.
Have demonstrated experience and expertise with Conquest financial planning software.  
For candidates outside of Quebec: Strong English mastery both written and oral. Knowledge of the French language is an asset.
For candidates in Quebec: Strong French mastery both written and oral. And, in your functions you will be called to service English clients and interact with colleagues from other divisions outside of Quebec, therefore a mastery of English both written and oral is also required for the role. 
Understanding of the tax and retirement planning needs of incorporated physicians.

 

In addition to French, the successful candidate must also have sufficient knowledge of English, as the work involves interacting and collaborating regularly with groups and individuals based in Toronto, as well as constantly interacting with other people, including clients, who speak English, locally and elsewhere.
