Title:  Senior Manager, Practice Management, Total Wealth Planning

Major Accountabilities 

 

1. Provide support the Client Solutions team as well as advisors in Scotia Wealth Management with promoting and driving strong financial planning engagement and business results by:

  • Creating new collateral/marketing material, such as articles, brochures, fact sheets, and other supporting content that will allow planners and advisors to introduce and promote the Total Wealth offering and educate clients in a turn-key fashion
  • Liaising with all marketing departments within Scotiabank to create, leverage and review total wealth material;
  • Proactively use all internal social media to promote and educate on total wealth strategies, products and initiatives;
  • Working with field Client Solutions staff to support Total Wealth Planning local engagement activities through centralized activities, such as proactive creation & distribution of content and marketing collateral, and regular communication drip
  • Delivering or organize webinars or in-person presentations to increase advisor engagement in the Total Wealth Planning process and to increase understanding of how to engage clients in the financial planning process

 

2. Manage the effectiveness of the field total wealth planning sales processes and initiatives to result in an exceptional client experience and maximized business opportunities by:

  • Working with the Client Solutions team to develop national best practices for financial planning performance and sales techniques
  • Developing material on integrating opportunities into written plans and/or conversations with clients and presenting those tactics and strategies to the Total Wealth Planners
  • Identifying tactics to improve the Total Wealth Planner and Advisor client experience and ensuring the right solutions are being presented to meet business objectives
  • Actively engaging users of Total Wealth Planning services (Wealth Advisors, PIC, PB, Trust) for feedback on client experience and identifying key areas for coaching and best practice discussion techniques
  • Maintaining a strong level of knowledge and understanding of the needs of the business, as well as the short and long-term business objectives and goals in order to align solutions to meet needs
  • Developing strategies and tactics to incorporate identified industry and internal best practices into the Total Wealth Planning business, and staying current with external market conditions and influences
  • Working with various Team of Specialist leaders and advisory boards to optimize collaboration in the field that would help drive business results and ensure key messages, content, tools, etc. are being utilized across the country

 

3. Align field Total Wealth Planning processes and procedures with the business lines’ objectives by:

  • Creating operational efficiencies and leveraging internal partners to improve the front office experience
  • Seeking opportunities for growth and cost reduction by exploring operational efficiencies in the business and engaging multiple support areas to carry out business strategy
  • Managing ongoing improvements in efficiency by identifying opportunities for new or redesign of processes for delivering financial planning services
  • Providing support to Client Solutions Management in the efficient operation of the day-to-day business
  • Supporting the Director, Total Wealth Planning with budgeting and planning requirements

 

4. As a subject matter expert, collaborate in the training and development of field Client Solutions staff and participants in the Wealth Management Associate program by:

  • Collaborating with Learning & Performance Consulting team and/or external vendors to develop and implement training programs for STWPs and internal clients regarding best practices
  • Working closely with the Senior Manager, Wealth Associate program and local ScotiaMcLeod Branch Managers to provide guidance and direction on the activities of the Wealth Associates planning activities
  • Mentoring the Wealth Associates to provide feedback on plans, planning activity and techniques

 

5. Contribute to the effective functioning of the field Client Solutions team by:

  • Participating actively in team learning development activities and team performance achievements
  • Building effective working relationships across the team and with various business line and corporate function contacts
  • Maintaining a high level of customer service
  • Facilitating a culture of open and honest communication
  • Actively participating and contributing to group touch bases and team meetings
  • Encouraging the generation of new ideas and approaches
  • Actively share knowledge and experience to enhance the development of all team members
  • Developing and executing a meaningful employee development plan

 

Education/Work Experience/Designations

 

Required:

  • University degree
  • Accredited financial planning designation (CFP, Pl.Fin -IQPF applicable for Quebec)
  • Excellent written and presentation skills
  • 3-5 years of experience as a practicing financial planner in the High Net Worth space
  • Comprehensive technical and behavioural understanding and execution of the financial planning process including investments, asset protection, retirement, estate planning, cash management, taxation issues and risk management to clients
  • Working knowledge of the Wealth Management business line including the value proposition, the products and services it provides to high net worth clients, and the manner in which they are delivered

 

Desirables:

  • Life Insurance license or Knowledge of insurance products and solutions
  • Knowledge of integrating taxation principles into the financial planning process
  • Expert level knowledge in facilitating successful business line, staff discussions, negotiations including strategic influencing and people management skills to facilitate strong teamwork and co-ordinated execution of multiple deliverables
  • Expert knowledge of financial planning software (NaviPlan)

 

Functional Competencies:

  • Strong Presentation skills particularly related to financial matters including the ability to present the merits of financial planning in an easily understood manner to audiences
  • Ability to work as part of an interdependent team and individually when required. Works well with autonomy and is an excellent communicator in a modern, flexible work environment
  • A proven track record of delivering results through a collaborative, inclusive style and process that respects all partners and their respective roles and interests, and builds the lines of communication and understanding throughout all initiatives
  • Proven skills and experience in building and maintaining effective working relationships with clients, peers, client facing advisors, Centre Directors, and Branch Managers
  • Strong interpersonal skills - excellent written and verbal communications skills with the ability to effectively communicate through encouragement, motivation and inspiration at all levels of the organization
  • Superior time management and prioritization skills and the ability to manage multiple projects at the same time
