PURPOSE:
The Sr. Manager ensures the delivery and support of technically complex solutions  to meet the business needs.  The candidate is required to manage a team of IT professionals and be responsible to provide technology guidance to the team and to implement standards and best practices around the development of application services and common components.  The incumbent will need to have strong technical background and project management skills, with the ability to manage a team of technology focused staff and manage multiple projects concurrently.

The candidate will need to interact with various stakeholders including  Business Analysts, business users, vendors, Infrastructure and Production Support Team.  The incumbent will influence the technological solution in relationship to architecture, design and development and leverage common components and enterprise technologies as part of delivering the solution. 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Manage the team (Direct and indirect reports) in area of technical direction, future planning, standard development practices. 2. Accountable for managing and delivery of projects; ensures the project objectives are met and are in compliance with IT technology roadmaps and Bank'sstandards.
3  Provide input into technology and infrastructure roadmaps.  
4. Proactively partners with business user groups to drive improvement in technology solutions that support business strategy
5.  Provide input to strategic solutions.  Create synergy and leverage new and emergencing technologies
6. Ensure proper support procedures and processes are in place to support the various existing production systems. 
7. Participate in design, business case preparation, and strategize solutions
8.  Build strategic relationship with business line partners and IT groups
9.  Establish and champion improvement activities for the department
10. Managed project or team recuritment, retention and staff performance
SKILLS:
Exceptional written and oral communication skills
Excellent project management skills, able to multi-task and manage concurrent complex initiatives
Strong leadership, mentoring, coaching and motivational skills
Disciplined in development methodology, best practices, and technologies
Excellent problem solving skills, have vision, and able to use innovative approach to deliver solutions and keep up to date with latest technologies

Must be flexible and able to adapt to a dynamic environment, make quick and sound decisions under pressure.
Past experience leading/supervising teams of 10 or more.  

At least  8-10 years of experience developing in a Unix/Linux Environment
Strong knowledge of RDBMS (Sybase/Oracle) and experience with No-SQL database (e.g. Cassandra, MongoDB) would be an asset
Strong knowledge of Java, Unix scripting, Python, xml, html, javascript.  
Experience with Scala would be an asset
Experience with Continuous integration and delivery would be an asset

Experience with risk management and Derivatives applications (like Interest Rate, Equity, and Credit Derivatives) would be an asset
Knowledge and experience with Hadoop and Big data related technologies would be an asset.
Experience in Data Analytic/visualization Tools would be an asset
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
A post graduate degree in a computer science, math or engineering related discipline is desirable, along with at least  8-10 years of practical experience in developing and deploying complex technology, and managing technical teams.
