The Role:

 

As an Information Security Advisor, you will contribute to the success of the Information Security & Control (IS&C) Advisory Services function by supporting Threat Risk Assessment (TRA) governance across Canada, Latin America, and the Caribbean. You will act as a subject matter expert, ensuring high-quality security assessments, effective risk management, and alignment with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and best practices.

 

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will: 

 

  • Effectively support security advisory services governance team by ensuring all the tasks are completed and delivered on time.  
  • Support and execute status reports with the purpose of measuring progress towards goals, tracking high/critical risks, and identifying improvement opportunities in the areas of threat risk assessment, risk tracking and action plans.    
  • Identify gaps in the Threat risk assessment process and work with the stakeholders to align the process as per the bank standards. 
  • Standardize artifacts/documents and develop operating procedures including training material related to threat risk assessment (TRA). 
  • Ensure all the threat risk assessments are well documented, tracked, and managed. 
  • Demonstrate experience in security controls such as network security, logical access management etc. and provide valuable feedback to other security risk advisors.  
  • Be responsible for scheduling, oversight of execution, and forwarding deliverables to stakeholders and other Security teams within IS&C. 
  • Propose technical feasibility solutions for new functional designs and suggest options for performance improvement.  
  • Understand how the bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions. 
  • Understand risk management tools and how risks are tracked and managed in such tools. 

 

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

 

  • Master’s or bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field 
  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience as information security advisor with emphasis on IT Security and technical solutions 
  • Good to have one of the following Information Security accreditations, CISSP, CISA, CISM or Equivalent 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to include the creation of reports and the manipulation of data using the Microsoft Productivity suite of tools. 
  • Experienced in GRC tools(e.g., RSA Archer or ServiceNow) and its implementation. 
  • Demonstrates knowledge of risk management and mitigation concepts 
  • You have well-rounded interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships cross-functionally, based on Scotiabank’s values of respect, integrity, passion, and accountability. 
  • You have a dynamic personality, able to work with a wide scope of work that is ever changing.
