Purpose of Job


Contribute to the success of Scotia Asset Management by executing sales strategies within assigned territory with the end goal of driving Assets Under Management (AUM) growth through retail branches while promoting the adhearence of the Global Sales Principals.


Key Job Accountabilities


1.  Assist in developing a regional business plan that will result in a) increased assets under administration, b) stronger market share, c) a high knowledge level among  bank registered reps of ScotiaFunds and their benefits to clients.  Success will be determined by the incumbent’s ability to achieve sales growth of mutual fund products throughout the Retail Bank Branch channel.


2. Act as the primary field resource for the registered representative sales force.  The main objectives are increasing knowledge of mutual funds, confidence in product positioning, and application of sales strategies/tactics and Global Sales Prinicpals.


4.  Assess relevant data and information to implement territory sales strategies, identify business opportunities, and provide input and assistance in resolving barriers to business growth.  Based on input from the field, contribute ideas and tactics back to the Scotia Asset Management team.


5. Motivate sales staff through presentations, workshops and seminars to increase confidence and awareness of existing and new ScotiaFund solutions.


6. Act as an effective, professional resource, providing expert and timely assistance for sales officers.  This includes daily seminars and one on one meetings.  Activities would also include client seminars  


Skills, Experience and Fuctional Competencies


- Considerable knowledge of competitive sales and marketing in the mutual fund business.

- Significant sales experience (3-5 plus years) in the financial services industry with preference given to working  with mutual funds.

-  Proven ability to communicate effectively with management and staff.

-  Proven track record of driving reults.

- Clear understanding of the Global Sales Principals.

- Strong presentation skills.

- Proven success in coaching and influencing.

- Highly motivated self-starter who can be effective with minimal day-to-day supervision.

- Solid Word, PowerPoint and Excel skills.

- Canadian Securities Course, PFP, CFP or equivalents.


Education and Other Requirements


- Must have the Canadian Securities Course or an approved Mutual Fund course

- Good understanding of PC/Internet Technologies and software.

- Experience in sales and marketing
