Purpose


The Compliance Associate is responsible for contributing to the profitable growth and quality of the IBF portfolio for moderately complex financial solutions by providing support to the IBF Team regarding compliance requirements and credit adjudication. 

 

This position is located in the Winnipeg Commercial Banking Office. The portfolios have seasonality when tight deadlines and extended working hours can be expected.

 

Accountabilities 


-    Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

Credit & Compliance Support:
-    Preparing AML/Compliance reports, correspondence, and media searches;
-    Preparing credit applications, correspondence, collateral and postponement request responses, electronic file set up of GRM reviews;
-    Verifying information through investigation, such as credit bureau reports, telephone reference checks;
-    Completing review, recommendation and approval on applications within approved credit limits according to current credit policy;
-    Completion and ownership of various AML processes;
-    Completing the spreading of financial statements and/ or customer financial information in Moody’s Risk Analyst (RA) in an accurate and timely manner as per authorized frequency requirements;
-    Ensuring that all relevant correspondence and authorizations are properly stored in the Shared Document Repository (SDR);
-    Providing backup and supporting the Operations & Reporting Analyst;
-    Understanding how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions; and
-    Completing other various duties as assigned.

Provide superior customer service by:
-    Developing and maintaining a deep understanding of IBF and Bank compliance policies and procedures;
-    Developing and maintaining a sound knowledge of the programs offered;
-    Maintaining a good working relationship with IBF third party partners and all internal partners;
-    Responding promptly and effectively to requests from customers, team members and internal partners;
-    Providing support as required for compliance, credit, client-facing and/ or fulfillment activities, and other analysis and deliverables;
-    Gathering documentation and financial information required to support internal and external stakeholder requirement packages.

Contribute to the Department’s productivity and service and the Bank’s financial and non-financial objectives by:
-    Organizing work to maximize productivity;
-    Actively identifying and participating with recommendations/ ideas for process and systems improvements;
-    Providing other support as required to IBF’s senior leadership team for compliance, AML, credit, client-facing and/or fulfillment activities, and other analysis and deliverables;
-    Understanding how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions;
-    Completing due diligence on customer applications;
-    Championing a high performance environment and contributing to an inclusive work environment. 
-    Actively pursuing effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

 

Dimensions


Product offering is the Nutrien Ag Solutions and Yield More Financing distributed as Indirect Financing through a network of independent farm supply dealerships located across Canada. All in-house support provided for over 24,000 customers and $2.2 billion dollars of authorized credit across Canada.

 

The incumbent will work on moderately complex compliance, operational support and will have interaction with external and internal partners and clients and will need to gather information and respond to internal inquiries. AML reporting, monitoring, and follow-up will be required of the successful incumbent. 

 

The incumbent is expected to be able to resolve issues and problems, but also to recognize the need to escalate to superiors where prudent.

 

The incumbent is expected to have the ability to deal with time sensitive requests, competing priorities and fluctuating request volumes. Workloads are subject to time pressures due to seasonal demands.

 

The incumbent is expected to maintain the confidentiality of information within an open concept office environment.


The Compliance Associate must have good credit judgement, keen attention to detail and a good knowledge of the Bank’s compliance and lending policies, practices and procedures. Critical attention to detail is necessary for success on the compliance aspect of this role. 

 

He/she will have interaction with clients and internal partners by gathering information and responding to internal inquiries. They must have strong organizational skills to monitor portfolio requirements, collect and assimilate large volumes of information from various sources and concisely populate the information into a credit or compliance or operational communication. 

 

Business Degree or diploma with at least 3 years of related work experience.

•    Advanced attention to detail required for compliance reviews and reporting
•    Intermediate credit skills
•    Knowledge of the agriculture industry considered an asset
•    Good communication skills (oral and written)
•    Advanced Microsoft Office skills 
•    Interpersonal skills to effectively interface with customers and internal partners
•    Good knowledge of the Bank’s commercial products and services
•    Knowledge of Bank regulations 
•    Team player with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn
                                        
Working Conditions
Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence due to seasonality of the business volumes. Periodic travel may be required.
