The Opportunity
 
The Associate Director, Global Transaction Banking (GTB) plays a critical role in supporting large National Accounts clients by delivering integrated payments, cash management, treasury, and deposit solutions. This position is responsible for originating new business, expanding existing client relationships, and contributing to the overall growth strategy of Canadian Commercial Banking. The successful candidate will act as a trusted advisor to clients, leveraging deep GTB expertise to structure solutions that align with client objectives, bank strategy, and regulatory requirements.

 

Key Accountabilities:


•    Drive profitable growth of payments, cash management, and deposit solutions within the assigned National Accounts portfolio.
•    Originate new client relationships and deepen existing ones through proactive, solution-based sales conversations.
•    Lead end-to-end client engagements, including needs assessment, solution structuring, pricing recommendations, and proposal development.
•    Negotiate and structure client solutions in alignment with bank credit, risk, and compliance frameworks.
•    Develop and execute annual sales and calling plans; maintain a robust pipeline to deliver against growth and revenue objectives.
•    Partner closely with Relationship Managers, Canadian Commercial Banking teams, and product specialists to identify referral and cross-sell opportunities.
•    Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate documentation, timely execution, and high-quality client delivery.
•    Monitor market and industry trends, competitor offerings, and GTB product enhancements, and translate insights into client opportunities.
•    Act as a subject-matter expert and internal champion for GTB and deposit solutions.
•    Track, report, and manage sales activities and results in accordance with internal governance and reporting standards.

 

Qualifications & Experience:


•    Demonstrated success in sales, business development, or relationship management within Canadian commercial banking.
•    Strong working knowledge of payments, cash management, treasury services, and deposit products.
•    Understanding of client profitability models, market dynamics, and competitive positioning.
•    Proven ability to build trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders and internal partners.
•    Strong negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
•    Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.

Education / Experience / Other Information:
 
Education:


 
•    Undergraduate degree in Business or Economics or work equivalency.
•    Other training requirements as determined by the Bank from time to time.
 

 

Skills/Work Experience:
 


•    Previous work experience of at least 2-5 years preferred.
•    Strong sales/closing skills, strong networking ability and strong negotiation skills.
•    Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential to this position. The incumbent must be able to effectively articulate their views both within the Bank and externally in the marketplace.
•    Strong relationship management skills and ability.
•    Good knowledge of Credit with appropriate skills.
•    Exceptional knowledge of Bank’s commercial payments and cash management products/services and deposit/treasury solutions as well as customer profitability model to provide integrated financial solutions.
•    Ability to conduct due diligence on the strength of customer financials for deals of moderate to higher complexity.
•    Thorough knowledge of relationship building and teamwork skills.
•    Strong knowledge of the commercial banking marketplace in Canada and a detailed knowledge of the assigned market area’s key industries and competitive positioning within the assigned market area; understanding of the Canadian Commercial Banking objectives with thorough knowledge of segment, strategies, and structure, as well as its lending and deposit products and services.
•    Good knowledge of Onboarding, Know Your Customer, Anti Money Laundering processes.
•    Good PC skills are necessary, including a working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and other commercial systems and platforms.
•    Key Competencies include: Customer Focus, Communication, Results Focus, Building Strategic Relationships, Strategic Influencing and Self-Awareness and Personal Development
 
 

Working Conditions:


 
•    Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence.
•    Interprovincial travel required – Vehicle required.
