Global Risk Management & Enterprise Functions

Winter 2020 Co-op Opportunities

Why work for Scotiabank?

Scotiabank is among the largest banks in the world and the most international bank in Canada. We are powered by our 97,000 high-performing (and awesome) teammates who make a real difference across the globe as a leading provider of advice, products, digital experiences, and financial services. Together with our Digital Factories around the world, we are dedicated to helping our 25 million customers become better-off.

This is a place where you’ll get to learn and develop your skills, while being recognized for your hard work. At Scotiabank, we’re passionate about bringing our whole selves to work, allowing us to create inclusive work environments for everyone to enjoy. Say hello to a career at Scotiabank!

Who We Are:

Global Risk Management (GRM)

GRM plays a leadership role in establishing the Bank's risk appetite and strategies. GRM plays a foundational role in supporting our business lines, customers and various operations in Canada, the United States, Latin America etc. (you know….everywhere).

Risk (no, I’m not referring to the board game) has so many cool areas to work in like trade floor risk management, credit risk, enterprise risk, retail risk, AML, compliance, analytics and so much more!

Scotiabank's approach to risk management is a globally-recognized competitive advantage - which balances sound judgment, effective tools, considerable management input and prudent oversight. GRM's greatest strength is the expertise and commitment to our people. It’s like deciding whether or not to invest in the market, trade, or in your case, save for a yearly supply of avocado toast… because avocado toast is delicious.

Enterprise Functions

Enterprise Functions is the bread and butter of the bank (come on…who doesn’t love carbs?) Whether you like accounting, audit, economics, group treasury, AML, legal or compliance we have it! We empower our team to ensure Scotiabank remains efficient, effective and innovative. This includes partnering with our businesses to provide strategic guidance and problem solve. It takes a team of subject matter experts to run Canada's most international bank, wherever we operate, and we’re always looking for talented people to keep us moving forward!

Your Work Term At-A-Glance:

You’ll also have access to skill-building modules, as well as challenging work-integrated learnings - all of which come together to create a stimulating environment where you will have the chance to thrive. We want you to be a sponge and take it all in, bring your great attitude, always be authentic, and own every opportunity that comes your way. This is your time to shine!

You are:

Enrolled in an MBA/Masters or Undergrad degree in Business, Commerce, Finance, Accounting or related discipline, and who are part of an accredited co-op program. You are curious and have a winning attitude and are up for any challenge! You love problem solving and interested in pushing your boundaries. You love spending your weekends discounting cash flows and reviewing the time value of money… just kidding, but we want you to like numbers!
