The Enterprise Governance, Risk, and Compliance (eGRC) program is a strategic initiative focused on transforming how Scotiabank manages risk. As a holistic solution, it modernizes governance, risk, and compliance by integrating frameworks, processes, and regulatory requirements into a single, consistent platform. The eGRC program enhances transparency, automates key activities, and enables data-driven decision-making across business functions, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and regulatory expectations. Ultimately, the program strengthens organizational resilience and supports informed, timely decision-making.

 

Purpose

 

The Vice President, Program Delivery, eGRC, leads the Bank’s global modernization of governance, risk, and compliance. This role is accountable for setting the strategic direction, leadership, and oversight of the enterprise eGRC program, ensuring business strategies, plans, and initiatives are executed in compliance with applicable regulations, policies, and standards. By advancing enterprise eGRC capabilities, driving adoption and integration, and enhancing data management and reporting standards, the VP fosters a strong risk-aware culture and cross-functional collaboration. These efforts enable the Bank to proactively address emerging risks and adapt to an increasingly dynamic regulatory environment through ongoing enhancements to eGRC platforms, processes, and governance.

 

Key Accountabilities

 

  • Lead and promote a customer-focused culture within the team, deepening stakeholder relationships and leveraging broader Bank capabilities, systems, and knowledge
  • Define and drive the strategic direction, ownership, implementation, and optimization of the enterprise eGRC program and platform, ensuring alignment with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and the risk management lifecycle
  • Set and advance the enterprise governance strategy for eGRC globally, enabling consistent and scalable risk, compliance, and issue management frameworks across business lines and geographies
  • Champion enterprise-wide data governance and standardization for eGRC, ensuring data quality, integrity, and usability, and enabling insights through analytics and reporting
  • Establish and oversee eGRC processes, controls, program management, and delivery; integrate global eGRC solutions across the three lines of defense through close collaboration with technology partners and business teams
  • Enable effective eGRC governance structures and operating protocols for risk committees, steering groups, and working groups, supporting case triage, informed decision-making, stakeholder engagement, and audit readiness
  • Advance eGRC transformation initiatives through change management, process improvement, and modernization of governance, risk, and compliance practices
  • Ensure the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture are considered and embedded in day-to-day activities and decision-making
  • Direct operations in line with the Bank’s risk culture, risk appetite statement, and limits; effectively communicate risk expectations across teams
  • Create an environment that drives effective and efficient operations aligned with Scotiabank’s Values, Code of Conduct, and Global Sales Principles, ensuring strong controls across operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk
  • Build a high-performance, inclusive culture through strong people leadership, coaching, succession planning, and talent development aligned to business strategy

 

Requirements

 

  • Undergraduate degree required; Master’s degree or relevant professional designation preferred (Risk Management, Data Governance, Information Systems, Technology, or related discipline)
  • Experience leading and managing global teams
  • 10+ years of senior risk management leadership experience within the financial services industry
  • Demonstrated expertise in global risk frameworks and enterprise governance initiatives
  • Strong ability to anticipate emerging risks, regulatory changes, and technology trends
  • Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities in complex governance and risk environments
  • Experience leading enterprise eGRC programs, platform oversight, stakeholder engagement, and transformation initiatives preferred
  • Strong understanding of regulatory environments, data governance practices, and GRC-enabling technologies
  • Proven ability to drive innovation and manage change while balancing risk
  • Strong business acumen and organizational effectiveness
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly to senior leadership
