Purpose
- Provides strategic direction, leadership and oversight for Global Banking & Markets and Group Treasury Product Control globally, ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are supported in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
- Product Control provides a center of expertise and excellence for ensuring the integrity of the financial books and records of the business lines related to above the line revenue. The group independently understands, substantiates, decomposes, and reports Profit and Loss (P&L) and Balance Sheet related to business unit revenue reporting. The scope of the function covers all GBM and GT activity globally
Accountabilities
- Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
Strategic Management:
- Provides organizational strategic leadership and direction of the GBM and GT Product Control functions to maximize return and manage risk.
- Develops and oversees the implementation of approved strategic direction, objectives and business plans for Product Control globally.
- Develops strategies to maximize the effectiveness of the delivery model whilst minimizing costs across multiple business lines.
- Partners strategically with client groups to address challenges faced by the business and provides subject matter expertise.
- Partners with internal stakeholders to ensure that department strategies are aligned with Global Bank initiatives.
Operational Management and Improvement:
- Develops and oversees the implementation of the operating framework and management processes to enable effective delivery of business operations, projects and initiatives.
- Monitors and analyses results; identifies and directs tactical and strategic responses to any negative results.
- Provides strategic oversight for the deployment of the technology strategy for the functions that improve operational efficiency, risk mitigation and customer service.
- Maximizes revenue opportunities for business partners by formulating and recommending strategic business opportunities.
- Leads a structured, pragmatic and results focused approach to execution.
Directs day-to-day activities in a manner consistent with the Bank’s risk culture and the relevant risk appetite statement and limits. Communicates the Bank’s risk culture and risk appetite statement throughout their teams.
Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.
Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment; communicating vison/values/business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team.
