Job Purpose


Provides leadership and strategic direction in a connected approach to deliver business transformation and drive platforms & experience with key stakeholders, and to set up strategic partnerships, the Practice Excellence International Office, and digital distribution functions.  Oversees the International Wealth Management global transformation/business management functions across of all jurisdictions, except Canada. 

 

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

  • Platforms & Experience.  Provide leadership and strategic direction to enable business platforms such as Total Wealth, common investment platform, seamless onshore-offshore client experience/Wealth dashboard.  Lead vision, strategy, evergreen of enablement platforms, advisor and client experience, and work closely with key support areas to continuously refine.  Design & assure digital adoption to bolster advisor & client experience across business lines & countries.  
  • Build out sustainable and business-focused strategic partnerships function that brings the entire Bank to client.  This is enabled through internal partnerships within GWM and across BNS, and potential external partnerships based on client demand/opportunity only.  Lead continuous engagement with in-country teams, change management, and benefits model to effect IWM partnerships.
  • Practice Excellence International Office to support IWM field of Wealth Managements, Advisors, and Specialists.  Set up the Practice Excellence International Office in collaboration with Practice Excellence National Office (Canada), with IWM focus on Wealth+ as platform for enablement.  Practice Excellence focus areas to set up to include:  training & development, analytics & insights, specialized programs & Wealth strategies, and practice management. 
  • Lead digital distribution strategy and formation of function & operating model and markets that is cross-segment and cross-Bank. Lead engagement & build out with key stakeholders in line with SWM operating standards and digitalization stack.
  • Contribute to executing the business agenda according to Scotiabank risks, policies and procedures, both at head office levels and county level. Work with IWM Operations to navigate and comply with Scotiabank non-financial risk controls.
  • Leads and drives the transformation agenda for IWM as part of the execution of the enterprise wide and wealth management strategic expansion plan, both head office and country level. Orchestrate the enablement of the execution, driving change at scale, providing the appropriated resources planning/allocation, incorporating agile ways of work to accelerate the transformation. Manage IWM strategic initiatives portfolio as whole and work with various Finance & PMO teams on governance.  Design and execute, appropriated collaborative tools to leverage expertise, both at countries and head office, necessary to the execution to the transformation agenda.
  • Provide the adequate input to GWM support and control function areas, to contribute with the proper oversight of the operational capabilities and solutions necessary to support the proper business functioning. Facilities the liaison with the numerous steering committees and forums within the organization, proving support and inform about IWM businesses across all jurisdictions.
  • Directs day-to-day activities in a manner consistent with the Bank’s risk culture and the relevant risk appetite statement and limits. Communicates the Bank’s risk culture and risk appetite statement throughout their teams.
  • Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment; communicating vison/values/business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team. 

 

Do you have the skills to enable you to be successful in this role? We would love to work with you if you have:

 

  • MBA, with at least 15 years’ experience in Wealth Management with specific market related experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of Wealth Management businesses, financial market best practices, regulatory and compliance practices (including QI, FATCA, CRS, Volker), audit and security policies, control tools, retail banking and commercial structure, operational methodology, and staffing and performance management models in each of the targeted countries 
  • Expert knowledge on business transformation and experience running multi-year key strategic initiatives, through multi-functional and multi-national teams.
  • Proven track record of high-quality execution and focused delivery
  • Exceptional strategic influencing, strategic thinking and change leadership skills, which contribute to obtaining buy-in and managing multiple complex projects in each country given competing demands for resources
  • Strong leadership and negotiation skills to obtain support from a wide variety of parties to ensure commitment to the timely implementation and delivery of various projects
