Purpose
Provides strategic direction, leadership and oversight for Internal Ratings Management team in Global Risk Management ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are supported through regulatory capital modelling complying with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
Accountabilities

- Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
- Leads the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of models for Bank-wide Business Banking IG ratings, IRB credit risk parameters used for the Bank regulatory capital calculation.
- Secretary of the regulatory modelling Committee and organizes Committee meetings and seek committee member approvals and engage stakeholder on feedback on model impacts to the business.
- Ensures ongoing compliance with regulators’ requirements for credit risk regulatory capital and interface with regulators on a regular basis.
- Directs day-to-day activities in a manner consistent with the Bank’s risk culture and the relevant risk appetite statement and limits. Communicates the Bank’s risk culture and risk appetite statement throughout their teams.
- Creates an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Education / Experience / Other Information

- Post graduate degree or equivalent in a quantitative discipline
- 10+ years' experience in managing credit risk models
- Experience in managing large projects involving cross-functional teams
- A mindset to continuously innovate and improve efficiencies
- Attention to details and ability analyze and synthesize
