Purpose

 

The Vice President (VP) of Content and Thought Leadership is responsible for defining and advancing the Bank’s expert positioning. This role leads the creation of high-value content, including research, insights, and strategic perspectives—that strengthens brand authority, shapes industry dialogue, informs public policy, and empowers clients and partners in alignment with the Bank’s Growth Strategy. The VP serves as a critical connector across research, marketing, and strategy, ensuring cohesive narratives that influence market perception and guide business direction.

 

 

Accountabilities

 

  • Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

    • Strategic Vision: Shape and articulate the company’s distinctive perspective, defining core messages that reinforce its expertise and market leadership. Define and implement a content and thought leadership strategy aligned with business objectives. Partner with executive leadership to identify emerging industry trends and craft narratives that position the Bank as a market leader.

    • Editorial Leadership: Serve as Editor-in-Chief of Scotiabank Perspectives, overseeing the development of white papers, reports, articles, and presentations grounded in rigorous industry analysis (e.g., consumer behavior, economic trends, and public policy).

    • Industry Impact: Elevate the Bank’s profile by positioning executives as recognized thought leaders through speaking engagements, media presence, and strategic partnerships.

    • Enterprise Alignment: Collaborate across economics, equity research, marketing, and client-facing teams to ensure a unified and consistent enterprise voice.

    • Team Leadership & Mentorship: Inspire, guide, and develop teams to produce innovative research and content that drive business objectives.

  • Directs day-to-day activities in a manner consistent with the Bank’s risk culture and the relevant risk appetite statement and limits. Communicates the Bank’s risk culture and risk appetite statement throughout their teams.

  • Creates an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

  • Builds a high performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviours; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and, managing succession and development planning for the team.

  • Strong analytical and research skills.

  • High-level strategic thinking and leadership.
  • Deep industry knowledge in a specific domain (finance). 
  • Proven track record of developing thought leadership programs that elevate brand reputation

Working Conditions
