Velocity – Mergers & Acquisition Internship/Co-Op – Summer 2025

The Velocity Program is not your average internship or co-op! This is a customized experience that focuses on providing you with the development and tools you need to grow your career. After successfully completing a co-op or internship with top performance, we will work with you to establish your future placements. As a result, you will get to learn, grow, and experiment within different areas of both Scotiabank and Tangerine!  

  

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:  

 

Acquisitions and Divestitures 

  • Analyze financial metrics for targets and comparable companies. 
  • Conduct in-depth research on the targets/industry related to valuation, shareholder analysis, profitability trends, etc. 
  • Assist in preparing presentations for Executive discussion/approval. 
  • Participate in due diligence of potential acquisition targets, which includes analyzing the impact of such transactions on the Bank’s operations, earnings, ROE, and capital. 
  • Participate in the sale processes, including populating and managing the dataroom 

 

Corporate Restructuring 

  • Provide support on corporate restructuring initiatives. 
  • Assist with executing plans to optimize the Bank’s capital allocation strategy, improve the Bank and its subsidiaries’ operating financial, and tax efficiency. 
  • Complete other projects, as assigned. The group typically takes ad hoc projects concerning a broad range of the Bank’s products and operations.

  • You are currently enrolled in post-secondary education.  
  • You love to learn and envision yourself working for an international organization that heavily invests in your future.  
  • You enjoy being involved in extracurricular activities such as conferences, clubs, and competitions. 
  • You are curious, analytical, and able to manage multiple projects at once with tight deadlines. 
  • You are familiar with basic finance concepts and financial statements. 
  • You are familiar with financial modelling, Bloomberg, and other research platforms. 
  • You are proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
