The Team
Global Banking and Markets Engineering (GBME) is the fast-moving, award-winning technology engine that powers Scotiabank’s Corporate, Investment Banking, and Capital Markets businesses.
The Derivatives Rates team delivers functional and technical solutions to support core business lines globally, including Global Banking & Markets, Group Treasury, and Global Wholesale Operations. We are a collaborative, agile, and results-driven team focused on enhancing our modernized derivatives trading platform.
The Role
We are seeking the Trade Floor Support Manager to join our team and contribute to the stability, performance, and continuous improvement of our derivatives trading platforms. This role offers exposure to a wide range of stakeholders and systems across the trade lifecycle, from Front Office to Back Office.
Is this role right for you? In this role you will:
- Act as the first line of application support for derivatives trading systems, providing day-to-day assistance to global business units. This includes resolving complex and multi-faceted issues related to product and deal structuring, trade lifecycle, and system functionality.
- Execute and enhance incident and change management processes, ensuring compliance with internal standards. Partner with cross-functional teams to produce reporting, identify root causes, and implement improvements that drive operational efficiency, reduce costs, and improve user satisfaction.
- Assist with system releases, maintenance activities, and provide after-hours support on a rotational basis.
- Support system releases and maintenance activities, including providing after-hours support on a rotational basis to ensure stability during deployments and scheduled updates.
- Maintain and improve support documentation, including procedures and knowledge base articles, and assist in user training and onboarding to promote self-sufficiency and reduce recurring issues.
- Continuously develop and apply deep domain knowledge of financial instruments, market conventions, valuation methods, risk management models, regulatory requirements, and end-to-end trading workflows to deliver effective support and solutions.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:
- 3–5 years of experience in application support or technical business analysis within Capital Markets.
- Strong SQL scripting and Excel skills; familiarity with Unix and Python is an asset.
- Solid understanding of Derivative Products and the full trade lifecycle.
- Experience with log analysis, monitoring tools, and vendor applications such as MarkitWire (WSS and ICELink are considered assets).
- Proficient in troubleshooting trade breaks, connectivity issues, and data flow problems across trading systems.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and the software development lifecycle.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively across diverse teams.
- Onsite presence required at the Toronto office to support trading operations and collaborate closely with business and technology partners.
