The team:

Scotiabank’s Global Technology Solutions’ (GTS) Data Centre Operations is responsible for the 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days per year support of the bank’s data centres / critical facilities spaces.


The role:

The incumbent is responsible for delivering complex and large technology related strategic initiatives, programs and implement the Global Data Center Standards globally. Assist with applying the Class levels, Gap Analysis and Risk Acceptance to sites. Leading large cross-functional teams to ensure these are implemented on time, within budget, and aligned with the organization’s standards


The incumbent must have extensive knowledge in Data Centers and Facilities infrastructure and solid understanding of technologies, project management and equipment monitoring, as well as technical expertise pertaining to the area. The incumbent will have excellent skills in relationship and general business management and administration work like maintaining documents and Runbooks.


As the incumbent will be part of the Critical Facilities 24x7 operations environment, incumbent maybe required to:

1) work onsite at either location in Etobicoke + be able to travel to other Scotiabank sites in Downtown Toronto, Scarborough, Barrie, Markham &

2) work as a part of the teams’ rotational shifts covering late afternoon to evenings or overnight, including weekends & statutory / bank holidays.



Is this role right for you?

  • Manage and ensure the successful delivery of complex projects involving multiple teams from different groups across the bank, as well as external vendors when required
  • Work with executive sponsors and business managers to prioritize requirements, issues, and deliverables
  • Delivers large and complex technology related strategic initiatives, programs, and projects globally
  • Ensuring these are implemented on time and within budget.
  • Ensures project status are accurately depicted and major execution risks or issues are identified and addressed
  • Articulation of key project risks and risk-mitigation plans to ensure quality delivery of assigned strategic initiatives, programs, and projects
  • Management of the delivery process, development of a consolidated project plan incorporating GTS Technical Standards as required
  • Development of the project critical path such that priorities can be set and adjusted with awareness of the potential impact on quality, cost, or timeliness.
  • Proactively identifies key issues that could potentially impact project objectives and contributes to the development and creation of alternative creative solutions to mitigate them in a satisfactory, timely and cost-effective manner
  • Sustains highly motivated groups with diverse and multifunctional reporting units, including external parties. This includes consistently maintaining the momentum of the project or program in the background of changing and occasionally conflicting priorities.
  • Ensures consistent project risk management and delivery across all assigned strategic initiatives, programs, and projects. 
  • Ability to independently run meetings with internal and external parties
  • Communicates ongoing project status, completing monthly Project Status Reports and escalating issues to his/hers immediate supervisor
  • Ensures the documentation and archiving of project activities, deliverables, tools, and finders for use in future projects
  • You can physically get to our various data centre locations & critical facility spaces in the Greater Toronto Area + in Barrie, Ontario. Travelling to other sites maybe required.
  • Goal-driven & task oriented are a part of your DNA as is the ability to work unsupervised.



Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?

  • 5-7 years of experience as a Project Manager, managing large complex multi-stream projects, that have significant IT and Infrastructure, preferably
  • Excellent track record managing projects of high/medium complexity, high/medium risk, and budgets (up to $10 Million+) dealing with multiple stakeholders
  • Strong communication (verbal/written/presentation). Mature interpersonal skills with the ability to work with, and influence, all types of professionals
  • Good interpersonal skills to build relationships with internal and external business partners and vendors.
  • Knowledge of project management tools and techniques
  • Possess superior problem solving and decision-making skills to resolve work issues with the ability to work under pressure in a dynamic environment.
  • PMP Designation an asset.
  • HVAC or electrical or EPS/UPS courses or certifications is also an asset.
