You will be a key driver behind initiatives of the software team.  This entails not only being the founding member of the technical product management team, but also innovating the process and development strategies to support growth. This is not the standard product management role, as this role is building this development support structure from the ground up which means getting in the trenches and participating in activities across the board.

 

What you'll do

Work with a fully Agile development environment (JIRA and related tools)

Set priorities of the development team

Develop storyboards, product backlogs, user stories, wire frames, and acceptance criteria to deliver working technology platforms, complying with high quality and usability standards 

Coordinate with business stakeholders and continuously make sure your team is delivering according to the constantly growing needs of the business.

Help the engineering team navigate obstacles and own the final product deliverables, as well as, the overall roadmap for your area of responsibility.

Responsible to define and drive the team towards the vision of the digital payments platforms

Responsible to explore the market and industry for better solutions and positively differentiate the Scotiabank offering in that space

Communicate and collaborate with internal and external customers to identify product improvements, analyze user needs, identify project scope, and document features/high level functional requirements 

Work with subject matter experts, data scientists, and software engineers to develop methodologies for turning user and product data streams into product health analytics 

Leverage product and user data to develop and test hypotheses on how to best optimize the user experience 

 

What you'll need

3-5 years experience in an agile development environment 

3+ years experience serving in a Product Owner or Product Management role 

Deep knowledge and understanding of Agile best practices 

The ability to work in a fast-paced startup-like environment 

Self-Starter attitude with strong, structured, and creative approaches to problem solving 

Outstanding ability to constructively challenge requirements to increase overall value to the business 

Team player who thrives in a team environment 

Excellent presentation and communication skills 

Perform business requirements analysis and design

The ability to prioritize goals and roadmaps for multiple teams

Identify and mitigate development risks

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering is an asset
