The Team
Contributes to the overall success of the AML Payment Scanning Technology in Canada and globally ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensure all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
The Role
The Technical lead is responsible for Managing the project team’s plans and interfacing with the project and business managers.
The main function of a Tech Lead is to oversee the application of project management methodology during all phases of the project cycle, with responsibilities that include project design, scope management, cost control, quality and performance.
The incumbent is also responsible for participating in the testing of new systems or enhancements, the training of users, and providing ongoing support to all supported units worldwide.

- Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
- Works with key stakeholders within all business functions to align technology solutions with business strategies.
- Work with AML Application Team to design end-to-end solutions.
- Gathers requirements from business units and translates those into technical specifications.
- Participate in code reviews and continuously improve the process in the translation of business requirements into mapping and technical requirements.
- Define and enforce data governance, data quality, and data standards.
- Participate in sprints/projects as development lead and coach development team in technical matters.
- Partner closely with other members of functional teams to define business requirements Lead teams of developers in the delivery of high-quality software solutions that meet business needs
- Define test plans and ensure that products are defect free before User Acceptance Testing
- Facilitate the Integrated System Testing process, developing rollout plans and procedures
- Ensure appropriate systems development and project management processes are being utilized
- Supports one or more highly complex business processes.
- Works on multiple projects as a project team member.
- Serves as a liaison between the architecture community and the IT organization in order to provide technical solutions to meet user needs.
- Demonstrates an informed knowledge of business functions to resolve problems and capitalize on improvement opportunities
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
What You Will Bring to Succeed
Experience
- 5+ years in Application development technologies
- 5+ years of technical leadership and mentorship
- Experience and/or knowledge of AML and KYC domain
- Experience with Microsoft Project
Areas of Expertise
- Payment Scanning development responsibility across multiple AML Projects
- Solution and design of enterprise solutions
- AML Regulatory requirements
Emerging technologies
- Has experience in Testing/System Integration/Reports and Web application development experience
- Develop, track and manage project plans, timelines and scope Manage project resources
- Lead teams of developers in the delivery of high-quality software solutions that meet business needs
- Define test plans and ensure that products are defect free before User Acceptance Testing
- Facilitate the User Acceptance Testing process, developing rollout plans and procedures
- Demonstrated ability to be flexible/ adaptable in exercising judgment in a changing environment and to manage competing priorities
- Proven ability to learn business processes quickly and to work well with business partners at different levels within the organization
- Must possess very good interpersonal and communication skills to effectively work with end users and members of a project team. The incumbent is expected to use diplomacy, judgement, and persuasion to secure agreement and co-operation from departments involved in a project.
- Good organizational and time management skills to ensure project deadlines are met
Education
- Bachelor's degree in technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field required
