As part of the Market Risk Technology team, you will contribute to the enhancements of our consolidated market risk warehouse and limitmonitoring platform. You will help improve reporting and analytics capabilities and support the delivery of highavailability applications that meet Global Risk Management and regulatory requirements.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain handson experience designing and building inhouse technology solutions while working in the fastpaced environment of capital markets trading and risk management. You will collaborate with stakeholders across Technology Functions, Risk Management, Trading Desks, Operations, and Financial Engineering to understand business needs and participate in the analysis and design of effective technical solutions.
The Technical Business Analyst acts as a key liaison between business stakeholders and the technology team within the Risk Warehouse. The primary objective of this role is to translate business needs into detailed technical requirements. The mandate involves supporting the entire software development lifecycle, ensuring that solutions are designed, developed, and implemented to meet strategic business objectives and regulatory obligations. This position is responsible for requirements elicitation, solution analysis, and process improvement to enhance reporting and analytics capabilities.

Contribute to the analysis, design, delivery, and testing of solutions that meet evolving business needs, including documentation of requirements and design decisions.

Develop foundational design artifacts such as use cases, process models, and data flow diagrams to clearly articulate system functionality and endtoend workflows.

Work with a range of technologies to implement new capabilities or enhance existing systems, ensuring strong integration across platforms.

Partner with business stakeholders to identify technology solutions that align with strategic objectives and operational needs.

Monitor applications, respond to user inquiries, and support the resolution of operational issues.

Collaborate with technology teams to ensure application, integration, infrastructure, and security designs align with standards for reliability, scalability, performance, and availability.

Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:

A degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Finance, or a related field, with 5+ years of progressive IT experience.

Strong understanding of capital markets products (FX, Fixed Income, Equity, Commodities) and familiarity with market data and security master data.

Foundational understanding of market risk management concepts; knowledge of regulatory frameworks such as FRTB is an asset.

Professional designations such as CFA or FRM are considered strong assets.

Experience with both agile and waterfall delivery frameworks and practical knowledge of the software development lifecycle.

Proven experience in requirements elicitation, analysis, solution design, and testing; familiarity with design techniques (Use Cases, Process Modelling, Data Flow Diagrams, Sequence Diagrams).

Strong data analysis skills, including SQL and Excel.

Experience with Unix and scripting languages (shell, Python) is an asset.

Strong problemsolving abilities and the capability to clearly document processes and findings.

General experience supporting systems or applications in a production environment.
