Scotiabank’s Global Technology Solutions (GTS) – Data Centre Operations team is responsible for the continuous support of the bank’s data centres and critical facility spaces globally, operating 24/7/365. Our mission is to maintain the health and resilience of these environments by leveraging strong technical expertise, robust processes, and advanced tools to ensure uninterrupted bank operations.
The Technical Analyst plays a key role in providing technical support and expertise for the ongoing maintenance, enhancements, and project initiatives that support our business partners. This position ensures service availability targets are consistently met or exceeded while safeguarding the operational integrity of our data centres and critical spaces. Contributes to the overall success of the Global Technology Systems (GTS) globally ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
As this is a critical 24x7 operations environment, you must be willing to:
Hybrid Role: Work onsite at the primary location in Toronto, with travel to other Scotiabank sites in Toronto, Markham, and Barrie as required, along with occasional work-from-home opportunities.
Rotational Shifts: Participate in a rotational schedule covering mornings, late afternoons, evenings, and overnight shifts—including weekends and statutory/bank holidays.
Note: This role will primarily cover weekend night shifts.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
• You are comfortable working rotational shifts in a 24x7 operations environment, 365 days a year.
• You can travel to multiple data centre locations and critical facility spaces within the Greater Toronto Area and Barrie, Ontario.
• You want to be challenged with complex problem solving in time sensitive situations to reduce system downtime and customer impact.
• You can physically lift and move equipment of varying weights
• You excel in a technical operations environment focused on Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
• You provide constructive input during shift turnovers to lead personnel and incoming team members
• You are committed to remain current with all procedures and provide input as appropriate.
• Coordinate and schedules preventive maintenance with contracted vendors for critical infrastructure equipment, ensuring optimal performance and reducing the risk of costly unplanned downtime due to unexpected equipment failures.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:
• Strong communication (verbal/written) and interpersonal skills to build relationships with internal teams and external vendors.
• Minimum 1 year of hands-on technical experience reconciling magnetic tapes (e.g., Iron Mountain or similar).
• Minimum 1 year of experience installing and removing network cables in raised floor or top-of-rack environments.
• Proficiency in MS Office tools, especially MS Excel for data input and reporting.
• Minimum 1 year of experience providing Level 1 or Level 2 technical support in an operational environment.
• Superior problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to work under pressure in dynamic, high-stakes situations.
• Understanding of tape library systems and/or print tools for basic computer operator functions.
• Post-secondary education or certification in technology or networking is an asset.
• Additional certifications in HVAC, electrical systems, or EPS/UPS are considered an asset.
• Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge
• Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
• Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
