Purpose of Job

Providing highly specialized technical leadership in the planning, coordination and execution of Scotiabank Centre, Digital Factory and The Commons Events, oversees and supports ongoing preventative maintenance of AV Systems and supervises AV Team. The incumbent is responsible for the most complex events in the centre, introducing new technology to meet business objectives and providing technical consultation and guidance in specialized areas.

 

Major Accountabilities

  • Oversees and supports the day-to-day event operations at the Scotiabank Centre, Digital Factory and The Commons.  Attends weekly meetings with hospitality team to review upcoming events, provides consultation as required to meeting coordinators and prepares weekly schedule and task assignments for the team.
  • Manages internal webcasting solution, coordinates and sets up webcast events and oversees execution with the Scotiabank Centre team.
  • Takes a leadership role in delivering the most technically complex and highest-level events by developing work plans, scheduling resources, monitoring and supporting execution, providing leadership to staff and reviews all work delivered.
  • Develops and maintains preventative maintenance program for the Scotiabank Centre, Digital Factory and The Commons; maintains inventory of spare parts and consumable items, coordinates service visits with third party vendors and ensures maintenance tasks are completed as scheduled.
  • Ensures the department’s objectives are met; assists in the recruitment of qualified staff, completes performance appraisals on time and maintains up to date knowledge of technology, industry and business practices.

Education/Work Experience/Designations:

  • The incumbent must have an expert knowledge of all aspects of Corporate Audio Visual, Meeting Room Technology and industry practices as well as a detailed understanding of systems architecture.
  • The incumbent must have excellent analytical, problem solving and trouble shooting skills to quickly and effectively resolve problems in a live event environment serving primarily senior leaders. The incumbent must be highly creative in identifying and researching technical solutions to resolve business problems. The incumbent must be able to take abstract concepts and apply them to formulate solutions.  Often works in variable, precedent setting situations which require the ability to quickly identify and resolve unique problems. The incumbent must have detailed knowledge of all technology solutions supported by the department to provide user support and staff training.
  • The incumbent must have specialized mastery of all aspects of technology within a corporate AV/Meeting Space Environment:
  • Digital Video Routing and Management Solutions.
  • Crestron AV Control Solutions and systems
  • Video Switching and Recording Systems (e.g. NewTek TriCaster)
  • Video streaming technology
  • Digital Audio Systems (including consoles, DSP’s, Network Audio, etc)
  • Simple Stage Lighting Systems
  • Multiple computing platforms
  • The incumbent must keep current with rapidly changing technological trends and provide recommendations on the future technological directions and architecture of the Scotiabank Centre.
  • The incumbent should have 6-10 years of demonstrated experience working in a high stress corporate AV production environment, with at least 2-3 years with supervisory or leadership responsibilities. 

 

Dimensions:

The incumbent is guided by Bank policy and receives broad direction from management and general direction from the hospitality services team and event organizers as appropriate. The incumbent is expected to function independently to identify opportunities for automation or efficiency, to evaluate new technologies and to ensure that the department’s objectives are met.

 

The incumbent is responsible for the day-to-day management of live event production requirements for the Scotiabank Centre, an executive event facility hosting 700+ Events/Meetings annually.  The incumbent will also be responsible for management/coordination of live webcast events utilizing the banks internal webcasting solution and coordination with the hospitality team to prepare webcast events and identify when contingent workforce is required for successful execution.

 

Working Conditions:

The position requires concentrated use of sight and touch at a computer terminal / in an AV Booth on average 4-5 hrs/day.

 

The incumbent must work under tight deadlines, conflicting priorities and changing requirements. The incumbent must be able to react quickly to resolve technical problems.  Based on event schedule and operational needs, overtime may be required including evening and occasional weekends.
