The Team

The Enterprise Technology System Reliability Office plays a critical role in incident prevention & stability by driving focus on incident & problem management across Enterprise Technology and establishing action plans to address key stability risks.

The Role

The Senior Manager, Application Stability will work with senior management, peers, and business partners to continuously improve the stability, reliability and efficiency of our Global systems through Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) based principles and practices that will include continuous people, process and technology enhancements in support of our rapidly changing technology product portfolio. You will work cross-functionally amongst a variety of teams and be a core contributor in all significant engineering service or solution delivered to Enterprise Technology stakeholders.  You’ll excel if you have enthusiasm for understanding ‘what could go wrong,’ complex problem solving and have a flare for communication and leading prioritization discussions with technical and business partners.

Some of the key accountabilities include:

  • Work closely with software development, Quality, Product and Data Engineering teams as a champion of SRE/DevOps culture and practices
  • Assist management of Service Level Objectives with senior development and business leads
  • Assist and participate in initiatives to continuously refine our build, plan and deploy practices for improved stability, reliability, efficiency, repeatability and security. Create plans, collaborate with other SRO’s and DevOps team members
  • Lead troubleshooting of our most severe incidents – leading senior stakeholder communication, driving problem solving and debugging with best-practice techniques
  • Assisting and contributing to continuous improvement of major incident root cause analysis and post-mortem activities to ensure we act to avoid similar problems in the future
  • Participate in prioritization of reliability features and contribute to the design, development and delivery of effective tooling, alerts and automated responses to identify and address reliability risks
  • Contribute to in-depth analysis to gauge service trends and drive improvements

 

What You Will Bring to Succeed

  • Top notch engineer with ability to work globally across the Enterprise
  • Breadth of IT experience (professional coding experience – C, C++, Java; mastery of one or more scripting languages desired, well-rounded broad knowledge of OS platforms, SOA or micro services architecture,) 10+ years with at least 3 years in management
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience, ITIL Foundation Certification in ITSM desired with a strong understanding of SRE and service management principles
  • Excellent communication (both verbal and written); the ability to quickly and clearly communicate incident status in business-friendly language
  • Spanish language skills an asset
