Purpose of Job:


The incumbent is responsible for supporting the ongoing assessment and development of opportunities for payments modernization by working with internal lines of business, performing external client exploration of payments related business challenges, and executing the analysis and communication of conceptual opportunities to support the development pipeline of agile delivery teams.


Major Accountabilities:


-  Works directly with line of business partners to discover and define payments opportunities in alignment with the Modernization program
- Tell the story - Capture and communication of key concept opportunities with program leadership and agile delivery leads
- Develop approaches to quantify and articulate the value of opportunities discovered
- Partner with Director, Customized Solutions to discover and capture innovative client-focused opportunities that drive enduring value and scale across the payments franchise
- Contributes to the definition and development of the Enterprise Payments strategy and roadmap through research of global payments trends and disruptions, and the analysis of their applicability to markets within Scotiabank's global footprint 




- Strong understanding of the domestic and global payments landscape, systems, and market usage across segments, including knowledge of ISO 20022 data scheme and the associated business applications
- Demonstrated experience with cross-border payment schemes and networks including wire payments through SWIFT
- Ability to clearly articulate and communicate complex business concepts associated with the payments domain
- Experienced at applying design thinking principles to define and solve business problems 
- Comfortable working in an agile, matrixed environment
- Hands on experience with real-time and/or payments modernization programs either domestically or globally (e.g. US, UK, Australia, Europe) 
- General knowledge of global payments trends and emerging payments technologies
