The purpose of this job is to lead reporting and data driven projects focused on optimizing and improving BI and Analytics capabilities for Employee Experience Technology. The incumbent will work & collaborate with Divisional and local counterparts in Canada, and Columbia region to set these initiatives in motion and drive their benefits. The incumbent will be under the guidance & supervision of the Director.



  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Owns, executes and updates the  Reporting Strategy ensuring it is driven by standardization and scalability
    • Steward of the Reporting Strategy and framework ensuring it is well documented and updated regularly.
    • Partners with Divisional Model Owners, and local teams in leading the definition of Metric requirements and the Employee/People Managers information consumption cycle pertaining to these metrics.
    • Partners with Data Lead within team to develop data requirements and data management process to put key metrics into production
    • Designs, builds, tests and puts into production dashboards and reports following data management and visualization best practices.
    • Establishes the reporting strategy for new projects/initiatives including leading the reporting requirements phase. 
    • Generates ngoing reports ensuring they are distributed appropriately within the established timeframes. 
    • Partners with PMO team t establish and execute a communication strategy related to data submission and reporting deadlines. Partners with PMO team to dissect insights from monthly reports to be used within Executive Reports, Operating Management Report or any other forum as required.
    • Manages the relatinship with local MIS teams as it relates to standard reporting activities. These include ensuring PowerBI licenses, and access is up to date
  • Monitors the pertinence of existing metrics and reports and makes recommendations. Leads the “Insights” area within the team by executing strategies that foster a new way of thinking around data driven decisions:
    • Perform complex data analysis using existing environments, data and metrics. 
    • Establishes a forum with local operations teams focused on identifying business problems that can be solved with data.  Prioritizes these under a Divisional lens. 
    • Creates and executes projects or initiatives that seek to address these problems/queries via data. 
  • Stays abreast of emerging technical trends and ensures activities are always delivered with a best practice and innovation approach, reflecting appropriate technological developments for competitive business position.
  • Works in a liaison with the Data Lead within the team to develop and maintain programs and automation that support data architecture and enhance data quality.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

Education & Experience:

  • Masters (preferred)/Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related field is preferred
  • Strong analytical skills in system designs, process re-engineering and documenting user requirements.
  • Expert knowledge in data mining, analytical and business intelligence principles and queries. 5+ years industry experience with big data technology (Hadoop, Hive, Spark, SQL, Kafka, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge in Windows based operating systems
  • Strong SQL2008/2012/2014//2016/2017 knowledge (SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, PL/SQL,T-SQL queries, stored procedures, user defined functions, triggers, index, view),
  • Strong performance analysis and optimization tools and the ability to troubleshoot queries, suggest indexes or design modifications, and help to incorporate best practices of database design
  • Expert knowledge in Power BI, Tableau, visualization tools
  • Design and develop ETL pipelines using multiple sources of data in various formats according to business requirements.
  • Conduct ETL, SQL and DB performance tuning, troubleshooting, support, and capacity estimation to ensure highest data quality standards.
  • Experience working in an Agile team environment
  • Proficient in a variety of languages including: Scala, Python, Java, JavaScript
  • Data modelling and warehousing experience
  • Proficiency with relational (Oracle, DB2, Redshift, etc.) and non- relational databases.
  • Ability to communicate and convey technical concepts to clients in “layman terms”.
