The Team:
Scotiabank’s Global Technology Services (GTS) Technology Operations & Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) is responsible for the operations engineering required to provide highly available and resilient systems.  In GTS Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) & Reference Data Management (RDM) TechOps & SRE, we are responsible for providing critical data platform services, following SRE and data governance best practices, as well as consulting and coordinating with the Bank’s technology teams to meet business expectations.



The Role:
As Software Engineer, you will contribute to the application and platform support of the RDM ecosystem through the development, testing, and implementation of availability, performance, security, currency, and problem remediation solutions.  You will partner with the Product Owner, Engineering teams, and Operations to deliver a high-quality product by creating, developing, and testing solutions that are aligned with best practices within the SRE framework. As well, maintaining code quality, documentation, security, change, and release management standards ensuring SRE targets are met or improved.

This role will require after-hours support if needed.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?
•    You possess good communication (verbal/written) skills in English.  

•    You have a track record as a strong team player with a proven ability to create technical specifications, develop, and implement solutions for highly available and resilient systems. 
•    You have 5+ years hands-on technical working experience as a software engineer with experience relational databases.  Experience in DataStage jobs creation/maintenance
•    You have 2+ years hands-on technical working experience using DB2. Experience in SQL DDL, DML scripting. You can create SQL queries with any relational databases
•    You have at least 2+ years of hands-on technical working experience with software build and CI/CD deployment pipelines by using 1 of the following tools (Jenkins, Gradle/Maven, Bitbucket).
•    You have 3+ years hands-on technical experience working with Unix scripting.
•    You can demonstrate a strong technical understanding of RESTful Services.

•    You can demonstrate the ability to read Java code to troubleshoot & debug.

•    You have hands on experience authoring Standard Operating Procedures and Run Books.
•    You have completed a post-secondary education in Computer Science or Engineering or Mathematics discipline.
