Software Engineer, Global Payments Engineering

What will you do?

The Payments Engineering team is looking for a senior full-stack software engineer to support the modernization of existing applications in the Trade Finance domain.  The role requires hands-on development experience using Java in front-end and back-end applications, as well as SQL databases.  In particular, you will:

• Analyze highly complex business requirement and technical specifications.
• Design and develop full stack Java applications and software components to support a new modernization project.
• Maintain, enhance, and support existing internal production web applications developed using Java.
• Participate in unit testing, IST, UAT, debugging and troubleshooting.
• Leverage industry best practices to deliver solutions following iterative and agile SDLC.
• Be able to work closely with other software engineers in the team as well as independently with minimal supervision.
• Be able to articulate ideas and communicate effectively to technical and business audiences on a regular basis
• Actively look for effective ways to solve problems and take initiative to optimize existing workflows.
• Be able to adapt to changes and evolving business needs.

What do you need to succeed?

• 10+ years of working experience designing, developing, and implementing small-to-mid sized full-stack applications using core Java version 8 or higher
• 5+ years of experience developing web applications using Java and common web stack (eg. JSP, Servlets, HTML5, CSS, Tomcat 9+, Hibernate, jQuery)
• 5+ years of working experience with SQL databases - Proficiency in understanding and writing complex SQL queries (nested, subqueries) and stored procedures in Microsoft SQL Server or DB2
• Working experience with Spring Boot or Spring framework
• Working experience with Windows OS and Unix (scripting), Eclipse IDE, SQL Server Management Studio
• Knowledge of DevOps and working experience with BitBucket, GIT, Jenkins, Gradle, Maven
• Technical knowledge or experience working with web services, Google Cloud, Splunk is an asset.
• Business knowledge in Trade Finance products, in particular Supply Chain Finance is a definite asset.
• Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline.
