As the Senior User Experience Researcher, you will help elevate the practice of UX research within Scotiabank. You will be part of the Design Community of Practice at the Digital Factory and will provide support for multiple product teams made up of designers, product managers, and engineers. You will conduct research using a variety of methods to verify mental models, validate concepts, and support the ongoing development and improvement of Scotiabank digital products. You will work closely with our accessibility team to evaluate products to ensure that they encompass inclusive design principles. You will contribute your research expertise towards new initiatives to help us create useful, usable, and delightful new products and features for our customers. You’ll collaborate with our team of data scientists to validate findings through triangulation of mixed methods data, and inspire change at all stages of product development by delivering compelling, written, in-person and visual presentations on your findings.

 

What you’ll do:

  • Conduct usability research remotely and in person for both ongoing and new initiatives.
  • Conduct inclusive usability testing to ensure that Scotiabank products work for everyone, regardless of ability.
  • Work closely with the product team by participating in project kickoffs, design critiques and ideation sessions, by disclosing findings and insights from research, and sharing key feedback from users.
  • Engage with project teams to determine testing needs, validating insights, identifying the most appropriate testing methods for each project, create test plans, generate recruitment screeners, moderate tests, analyze results, compile reports, and present findings.
  • Design and execute studies that address both user behavior and attitudes, using the right methodology for the right questions
  • Generate insights that both fuel ideation and evaluate designs
  • Conduct research using a wide variety of qualitative methods and a subset of quantitative methods, such as surveys
  • Work cross-functionally with design, product management, data science, content strategy, engineering and marketing
  • Act as a thought leader in domain of research, while advocating for people who use our products
  • Mentor other researchers, and maintain our team's high standard of work

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed?

  • You have a B.A/B.S. in a human behavior related field, such as human-computer interaction, psychology, sociology, communication, information science, media studies, computer science, or economics
  • You have 5+ years of experience in applied product research.
  • You have experience with user research supporting accessibility.
  • You enjoy collaborating closely with designers, developers, product managers, and other disciplines to design, implement, and track new products or experiences.
  • You have research experience in a product development or service design context.
  • You have hands-on experience scoping and prioritizing research questions, research planning, data gathering, analysis, summarizing, and sharing findings.
  • You have a desire to continually experiment with and develop new methods.
  • You have examples of how you influenced teams or companies to become more people-centred.
  • You love asking questions, seeking answers, and working with others to solve difficult design problems.
