As the Senior UI/UX Designer you will be part of a team that is building Scotiabank's Global Design System: a key part of digital products that touch over 25 million users every day. You'll get to influence the visual design esthetic for digital products created by product teams located across the globe, leveraging rigorous design research, accessibility and interaction design as well as your intuitive design sense and love for delightful experiences. 

             

Is this role right for you?

  • You will be influencing the visual direction fo r Scotiabank’s Global Design System for digital products.
  • You will be working in a multidisciplinary team of +10 people, including visual & UX designers, front-end developers (web & mobile), QA and accessibility experts.
  • You will collaborate closely with designers from Canada, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Central America and Uruguay.
  • Collaborate with the Creative and Content teams in refining how the brand feels on digital products, influencing the design aesthetic, language and tone of experiences that touch 25M+ users every day.
  • You bring a high level of technical acuity with a thorough understanding of web and mobile front-end technologies; you will need to understand limitations and constraints, as well as when to push boundaries regarding motion and sound.
  • Advocate for our Design System, promoting scalable design practices through the bank.
  • You are open, persuasive, engaging and love to have a good laugh – you also know when it’s important to get serious and be a champion for the end user.

 

 

Do you have the skills to enable you to succeed?

  • Degree in Design, Graphic Design, User Experience Design, related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 4-6 years’ experience designing responsive web or mobile software applications.
  • Spanish proficiency.
  • A professional and personal portfolio which showcases a high level of visual UI polish and informed UX decisions.
  • Demonstrable experience creating engaging static and animated illustrations as well as designing interactions and motion.
  • Mastery of Adobe Creative Suite and Sketch to get hands on when needed.
  • Fast learner who has likes to experiment with new tools that could potentially become the new standard at Scotiabank.
  • A positive and resilient personality. You must be able to embrace feedback and have a desire for continuous iteration and improvement.
  • Comfortable working in a self-guided manner and also guiding designers to push the visual work to the next level.
  • Comfortable working within tight timeframes and with working creatively within specific constraints.
  • Ability to work within, and contribute to, the Scotiabank Design system with a desire to push existing standards and practices to the next level.
  • First-hand experience developing in CSS, HTML and/or JavaScript. Experience working with Design Systems as well as, experience with sound and haptic feedback. would be an extereme nice to have.
