The Team
The Quantitative Trading Solutions group develops and operates Scotiabank's equity algorithmic trading and ETF market-making applications, along with associated analytics and related technology. There is also exposure to fixed income and foreign exchange trading ancillary to our equity and ETF trading activities. We are a lean, technical, performance-oriented team and promote agility, curiosity, and ownership.
The Role
We are seeking a talented Senior Technical Solutions Expert to work with a team of developers and traders and contribute to a range of products supporting our electronic trading and market making space. This is a great opportunity to gain exposure to all aspects of automated trading in multiple electronic trading systems. We work in close partnership with the business lines we support. Our business lines have ambitious product goals and our technology requires robust technical risk management, and we are seeking an additional resource to meet these goals.
Is this role right for you? In this role you will:
- Provide operational System Support: L1 and L2 support of real-time trading systems, including resolving issues throughout the trading day, setting customizations, and providing trading system subject matter expertise directly with traders.
- Technical and Data Analysis: Perform in-depth investigations into trading system behaviors on an aggregate basis for performance monitoring, and per-order basis for algorithmic behavior research, identifying and explaining anomalous behaviors and making recommendations for improving performance and reducing operational risk.
- Product and System Analysis: Map business priorities onto possible system design solutions and potential product road mapping. Work closely with traders and business leaders to recommend product modifications or new uses of existing functionalities to improve and extend capabilities.
- System Governance: Align systems with internal policy and regulatory requirements, analyzing requirements and monitoring implementation of enhancements.
- Software Development: As a primarily software development-oriented team, there is exposure to automated trading and related tool development. Interested and capable candidates will have the opportunity to build and maintain tooling useful to the support of our trading and development activities, including data analytics components and simulation tooling.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:
- Experience working in a software development environment or developing software directly (especially low-latency or object oriented programming)
- Trading Performance Analysis
- Experience with L1 and L2 trading system support
- Excellent verbal and written communication with ability to bridge between various technical and business staff
- Systems and Data Analysis
- Experience with Project Management or Business Analysis
- Experience with algorithmic trading or ETF market making an asset
