Scotiabank’s Enterprise Architecture (EA) organization is building a modern, workflow-driven Trusted Architecture Governance capability designed to elevate architectural decision-making across the bank. We are looking for a Senior Technical Business Analyst to join our Enterprise Architecture governance team and play a pivotal role in designing and operationalizing the next generation of EA processes, standards, and workflows.
This role blends business analysis, workflow design, architecture alignment, and product ownership. You will partner with senior architects and technical domain owners across Security, Resiliency, Data, Cloud, and AI to translate governance and architectural requirements into actionable, streamlined workflows—primarily delivered through ServiceNow (with Power Platform as a secondary option).
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
- Partner with the Enterprise Architecture team to build out the Trusted Architecture governance framework, including architecture assessments, technology standards workflows, and pattern management.
- Translate EA processes—architecture reviews, standard updates, reference architecture governance—into actionable requirements and user stories.
- Support the development and ongoing management of reference architectures, application portfolio management and roadmaps, patterns, technology standards and API/Events Governance, ensuring clear traceability and alignment with the EA vision.
- Lead requirements gathering and workflow design for ServiceNow-based EA governance workflows, including intake, reviews, approvals, evidence collection, and reporting.
- Define and document functional and non-functional requirements for workflow automation, integration, and data capture.
- Collaborate with developers and platform teams to ensure requirements are technically feasible and aligned with platform capabilities.
- Support design of ServiceNow EA Module or alternative design for Power Apps.
- An understanding of EA Tools such as Orbus, LeanIX, MegaHopex, ServiceNow EA module.
- Engage with technical control domain teams (Security, Resiliency, Data, AI, Cloud) to consolidate assessment requirements into a unified governance model.
- Build strong relationships across architecture communities, technical risk, engineering, and product teams.
- Facilitate workshops, working sessions, and design thinking activities to drive clarity and shared understanding.
- Act as the Business Analyst and/or Product Owner within an Agile/Scrum team responsible for delivering governance workflows and related capabilities.
- Maintain and refine the product backlog, ensuring clear acceptance criteria, prioritization, and readiness for development.
- Coordinate end-to-end testing, user acceptance testing, and rollout planning.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:
- 5+ years of Business Analyst or Technical Analyst experience, ideally in enterprise technology or architecture environments.
- Strong expertise in governance including evidence collection, approval tracking, audit trackability, reporting requirements, etc.
- Strong expertise designing or supporting ServiceNow workflows, particularly in governance, risk, compliance, or custom workflow modules.
- Experience with PowerApps / Power Platform (nice-to-have) for building workflow or simple application solutions.
- Experience or understanding of the ServiceNow EA Module.
- Solid understanding of Solution Architecture and Enterprise Architecture including governance concepts.
- Familiarity with EA frameworks such as TOGAF (certification is an asset).
- Ability to create clear process maps, workflow diagrams, and data models.
- Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience working with multidisciplinary technical teams (e.g., security, data governance, cloud, resilience).
- Comfortable acting as a liaison between architecture, engineering, governance, and platform teams.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments; Product Owner experience is a strong asset.
- Highly organized with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to distill complex architecture and control requirements into structured workflows and clear user stories.
- Comfortable working in fast-paced environments with evolving priorities.
