Supports the development team in delivering high-quality solutions for the Global Insurance Creditor domain by contributing to API implementation, backend/frontend support, and bug fixes. Ensures compliance with internal policies and procedures and is accountable for the technical delivery of the different initiatives for the Insurance Technology domain supporting Canadian Banking.


Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

 

  • Champions a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships within the Global Insurance Creditor domain and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Takes a leadership role within the development team, designing technical solutions and promptly addressing issues.
  • Leads React development, UI/UX implementation, state management, Spring Boot development, API implementation, database design, and bug fixes for insurance creditor solutions.
  • Oversees a development team, providing technical guidance and ensuring development tasks are completed on time with quality.
  • Performs solution design reviews and code reviews for the team.
  • Participates in systems implementation, planning, and documentation development for global insurance creditor initiatives.
  • Applies agile development methodologies and works within an agile environment.
  • Provides production technical support for insurance creditor applications.
  • Ensures adherence to operational, compliance, and conduct risk controls.
  • Champions a high-performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment.
  • Adheres to security best practices.
  • Performs solution design reviews and code reviews for the team.
  • Participates in systems implementation, planning, and documentation development for global insurance creditor initiatives.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:
 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 5+ years’ experience with Java, Spring Boot, and modern backend frameworks such as Node.js, Express.js, PHP
  • 5+ years’ experience with React, React Native, Next.js, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, SASS, Tailwind, Bootstrap, Semantic UI
  • 5+ years’ experience working with Java/J2EE. Java 8 experience preferred. Familiarity with multiple external Java frameworks is a plus (Spring, Struts, Log4J, etc.) working on data transformation. 
  • Experience with RESTful APIs, Microservices architecture, and API Gateway
  • Strong experience with GCP (Google Cloud Platform).
  • Strong debugging, performance optimization and problem-solving abilities
  • Database experience with PostGreSQL and Redis (session/cache), MySQL, MongoDB, PostgreSQL
  • Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD (Jenkins/GitHub Actions), and Git.
  • Experience with automated unit testing (Junits).
  • Knowledge of security best practices (HTTPS/TLS, OAuth authentication, API security).
  • Experience with automated testing and code review tools is a strong plus
  • Strong configuration skills, very comfortable working with complex data pipelines
  • Familiarity with major transport protocols: FTP, SFTP and other SSH connectivity tools.
  • Must be able to demonstrate ability to see technical overview of system and impact analysis of changes to overall system.
  • Language fluency in English is a must
