Contributes to the overall success of Commerce Engineering in Canada ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

What will you do?
- Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
- Write moderate to complex code/ scripts to test systems.
- Design, develop and maintain a modular, extensible, and reusable test automation framework to enable continuous testing in an agile environment.
- Work closely with Team Lead, Software Testing, providing team and project status updates, escalating issues as needed (e.g., resourcing, training, etc.)
- Develop coding standards and testing approaches, enhance existing testing framework, and research/ implement new testing methodologies to best complement tech stack/ assets for the team.
- Work closely with Product Owner/ BSA to determine near-term and future plans for the team.
- Collaborate with Delivery Lead to plan milestones, successfully execute software delivery, and escalate issues as needed.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to team members, and provide employee feedback regarding performance and future development to Team Lead, Software Testing.
- Facilitate communication, coordinate, and motivate team to achieve shared goals.
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

What do you need to succeed?
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field preferred
- 5+ years of test automation experience and in-depth knowledge of programming languages (Must have: Java/ Javascript; Nice to have: Python), frameworks, and utilities
- Experience with API testing (preferably using Postman)
- Excellent communication skills with ability to influence decision making across stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to lead team members with differing opinions and levels of experience
- Project management skills to map and execute short-term and long-term plans for the team
- Effective organization, planning, and time management skills
