Sr. Portfolio Management Officer, Scotia Leasing (12 month Contract)
Purpose
As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for overseeing the management of all Leases, Conditional Sales Contracts, Equipment Finance Contracts and Progress Payment Agreements from date of booking through to expiry.
You will provide customer service to Commercial Branches, Business Services Centres, Special Accounts Units, Small Business, Corporate Banking, Scotia Leasing’s Relationship Managers and Scotia Leasing clients in a manner consistent with Scotia Service Standards and the Bank’s Complaint Resolution Standards and Procedures.
Accountabilities:
• Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
• The successful candidate is responsible for managing all transactional change requirements in the portfolio:
o Interpret customer queries to determine appropriate solutions and investigate as necessary.
o Re-structuring transactions, preparation of amortization schedules, contract activity reports, and month end balances etc.
o Preparation of documentation for all Lease/CSC mid-term and end of lease adjustments.
o Follows procedures for preparing purchase option letters, bill of sales, invoices, release packages, manual debits, system updates and processing waiver requests. Monitors delinquent accounts and follows with Branch/BSC, external personnel or Special Accounts Units for collections of payments.
o Reviews and implements all procedures as documented in the appropriate vendor/third party relationship programs
o Complete/process any mid-term adjustments requests such as consent to transfer, equipment substitution, skip payments and name changes. Review lease documents to determine credit requirement for mid-term adjustments when processing the request.
o Issues payout calculations for internal and external customers.
o Provides balance inquiries to internal and external customers.
o Liaises with legal counsel to obtain legal opinions on a wide variety of complex and unique situations.
o Processes the Options Due Report and follows for receipt of payment or renewal of second rent period.
o Follows up with RM’s or insurance brokers for expired insurance certificates.
• Customer Service:
o Responsible for providing extraordinary customer service to Scotia Leasing customers & branches.
o Handles all incoming inquiries (phone, e-mail, internal) from internal or external stakeholders and routes them appropriately or investigates and resolves independently.
o Proactively recommends changes to policies and procedures in order to provide quality customer service and maintain Scotia Service standards.
• Contributes to the Operational and General Administration of the department:
o Ensure the Bank’s risk profile is mitigated by adhering to and ensuring team members’ compliance with Know Your Customer, Anti-Money Laundering/Anti-Terrorist Financing, Privacy and Occupational Health & Safety requirements, Guidelines for Business Conduct, Scotiabank Group Reputational Risk and Internet & Electronic Mail Code of Conduct requirements, processes and guidelines.
o Recommends changes, if necessary, to both the Scotia Leasing Policy and Procedural Manuals as applicable to the department
o Maintains daily activity log
• Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
• Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Education:
• Post-Secondary education - College, University (ideally in Business Administration or Accounting)
Skills/Work Experience:
• Requires a solid understanding of equipment leasing/finance including documentation, accounting procedures, tax and legal ramifications
• Have an awareness of insurance requirements and the Personal Property Security Act
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with a passion for investigation
• Strong verbal and written communications skills along with excellent interpersonal skills to be able to communicate with internal and external stakeholders
• Strong administrative, organizational and decision-making skills along with a natural curiosity.
• Experience dealing with third party vendors and clients
• Advanced knowledge of MS Office and the ability to quickly adapt to new systems and processes
• Ability to communicate in French language an asset
• Ability to be resilient under pressure and have a strong commitment to delivering a high standard of customer service in tight deadline situations.
