The Team

This position belongs to a highly skilled development team that develops and supports various applications in growing Global Regulatory & Controls Technology team. The team is responsible for providing specialized analysis, design, development, and support of cost effective, mission critical, on-line, risk management and decision support systems for business users within Scotiabank IT group. 

The Role

The ideal candidate will be working in an agile environment and will need a passion for continuous improvement. Firsthand experience in business intelligence, analytics, data science and data products will be beneficial. The incumbent will influence the technological solution in relationship to the architecture, design and development and leverage common components as part of delivering the design/solution. Provides an enterprise-wide perspective and input into IT decisions.

Is this role right for you?

• Work in a cross functional Agile team to deliver regulatory and compliance solutions
• Lead in the implementation of new reporting requirements and manage the implementation of system and procedural changes to ensure compliance with new regulatory requirements.
• Effectively manage a team of technical professionals including software engineers and developers by setting performance expectations, monitoring performance and providing counsel and coaching. 
• Recruit new talents to build a high-performing team, and fostering an inclusive work environment.
• Ensure the team building code adheres to bank standards, policy and industry best practices.
• Perform hands-on analysis, problem-solving, design and build solutions needed.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?

• A recognized degree in engineering, computer science, math or related discipline
• Proven track record of managing large-scale software full stack and data engineering development projects
• Experience working on Message Queuing Technology using RabbitMQ or Kafka
• 5+ years of experience with at least one programming languages: Java/ Python/Scala
• Experience with other database technology: MS SQL, Oracle, Elasticsearch, Dremio
• Experience with clustering software like Kubernetes
• Passionate about adapting new technologies to accelerate business value delivery
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
