The Senior Manager, Product Management Design and Solutions Automations & Toolkits leads the team of product owner professionals in the delivery of solutions that align product strategy and capabilities with the effective delivery of Strategic Global AML and Compliance programs on behalf of Global Operations. Working closely with the Director Design Strategy & Operational Support, the Senior Manager will coordinate across the various stakeholder groups including, Technology, AMA, Business Lines (across the Enterprise), AML Risk, PMO, and others (as required), to support delivery or programs, plans, initiatives, and strategies on time and within budget for assigned products/platforms and services in scope. With a deep understanding of the assigned product and partner process and need, the Sr. Manager prepares forecast plans & reporting, aligning resources, and negotiating support to ensure continuity, capability, delivery, and cost drive results for the Bank.
Is This Role Right for You? In this role, you will:
- Support the Director DSOS in the formulation of the overall strategy for specific product (Oracle ECM) and journeys assigned, delivering a strategic roadmap for the platform, prioritizing initiatives and securing necessary resources, leveraging effective collaboration, relationship building, and negotiation leading to "buy in" and decisions supported by relevant stakeholders,
- Apply a technical understanding of the assigned platform/product and works with technical teams to formulate the technical solutions and corresponding design documentation; keep an eye on the latest technologies and comes up with ideas to use them to improve the product,
- Understand the product and the core journeys in depth, and use competition trends to inform and improve the product, drawing ideas from across different industries with help to generate ideas for the product and its delivery,
- Understand the significance of qualitative aspects of the assigned product experience and guide the team around finding the right balance between how it makes the user feel and how effectively the product performs, expressing such through effective design documentation that support end to end understanding and aligned outcomes,
- Manage queries and programming of structured data / large databases assigned and managed, to address complex business issues and operational support practices ongoing such as logical access, audit retrieval, and production validation activities; exercise judgement while employing various data techniques and procedures to perform the continuous iteration and analysis of past and current data, to obtain insights about a business challenge / issue,
- Manage and work collaboratively organizing all the information that is gathered during the problem discovery and guide core team members through the solution evaluation and design, delivering on business requirements and well researched business cases with right inputs and outcomes, mapping dollars to both and can justify the investment and calculate strategic value, accounting for challenges and contingency,
- Balance a product-oriented vs project-oriented approach applying an intuitive understanding of the metrics necessary to coach and inspire the team this includes the ability to articulate business problems to the team in a way that enables them to determine the best solutions and engaging with architects and development leads to validate solutions and success metrics / acceptance criteria – establishing well defined measures of success,
- Support the product implementation roadmap, by convening regular planning sessions with key stakeholders, contributing to the development and execution of the overall delivery roadmap, and recommending roadmap priorities throughout the project life cycle. Interact closely with all value stream leads to support the timely delivery of their Oracle ECM related work streams,
- Execute delivering within the established framework and standards that govern and accelerate our global initiatives, and support optimization, financial accountability, and execution success across the delivery value chain, including aligning portfolio to enterprise delivery framework; providing release production validation, sign off, and defect tracking, aligning to program priorities for resolution,
- Identify the internal and the external risks of the program; take ownership by recommending activities to mitigate those risks through understanding how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions,
- Contribute to environment in which the team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet assigned obligations with respect to operational risk & Business Sustainment accountabilities, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct,
- Build strong partnerships globally with First Line, Second Line, Internal Audit, Technology, Data Governance Office, and other key stakeholders in connection with the Bank’s AML/ATF Program, and work collaboratively across functional teams to resolve open issues in a timely and effective manner,
- Provide oversight, direction, coaching & professional development to a small team of Managers. Is also involved in day-to-day execution of owned areas, sustaining a high-performance environment with a focus on individual accountability and strong inter-group collaboration across all teams, reinforcing mutual respect,
- Engage in a testing support role on various levels by reviewing and providing feedback on test plans, test cases, analyzing/interpreting test results, and conducting your own Product Owner Acceptance Testing,
- Participate in the development of processes and templates, promotes the adoption of best practices and standards to support the development of a continuous improvement culture,
- Assist documentation and monitoring the progress of remedial actions for issues identified through Challenge functions, including Internal Audit, Compliance, regulators, and management self-identified issues.
Do You Have the Skills?
- Prior Scotiabank experience highly preferred.
- Working experience with change management and influencing stakeholders.
- Deep analytical, project management and communication experience (strong professional writing and PPT presentation skills).
- Experience and technical know-how of risk management procedures, processes, and tools.
- AML experience and understanding of the Oracle system are an advantage.
- Proven problem-solving skills, ability to help others organize problem solving.
- Proven ability to operate independently and take initiative in supporting a program strategy.
- Proven ability in execution of complex and demanding tasks under strict time pressures.
- Solid judgment, strong negotiating skills, and a practical approach to implementation – including knowledge of Bank systems.
- Ability to balance regulatory requirements with the best interests of the Bank and its customers.
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, commerce, finance, or similar field.
- Understanding Technology UX writing, Inclusive design.
- Understanding Human Behavior as it relates to UI design & Business and Product Strategy, Design Thinking.
- Systems thinking, secondary research and comparative methods, Qualitative User research, Analytics and Statistics, Evaluative Methods and Usability, Prototyping, UI and Interaction Design, Visual Design, Information Design and Information Architecture.
- Power BI and Google Cloud; JIRA, Web Content Management, UX wireframing, data programming language such as SQL and Python.
- Support Complex Implementations and Data Migration efforts.
- Ability to independently manage complex priorities focusing on balancing High Value deliverables under resource constraints.
