Scotiabank’s Regulatory App Delivery (RAD) team is responsible for building, maintaining, and supporting a number of regulatory and compliance processes for Canada Banking. We work collaboratively with our Business Partners to understand and remain compliant with the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act, Common Reporting Standard and Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation (CDIC) while overseeing the annual tax slip preparation in accordance with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and Revenu Quebec (MRQ).

 

To support the above vision, we are seeking an experienced Senior Manager who will lead this team and help achieve the desired goals to develop and support our regulatory applications such as CRS, CDIC and FATCA. This position will be directly reporting to Director, Technology and will have 20-25 direct reports which will include employees and contractors. Direct reports will have varying titles & skills like Scrum Master, Application Engineers, Business System Analyst, Support analyst, Quality Assurance Engineers, etc.

 

We are looking for individuals who will work as a member of a dynamic Agile team developing and supporting these regulatory applications and their associated processes. The Regulatory App Delivery team supports the enhancement, development, and maintenance of these regulatory applications within Canadian Banking. As a leader of the team, you will be responsible for planning & delivering all the projects and operational support.  

 

The applicant should possess excellent problem-solving skills, who can technically troubleshoot issues/problems independently and provide solutions. The applicant must possess the ability to work with technology focused peers and work on multiple projects concurrently.  For this role the candidate should ideally understand agile and waterfall methodologies and be capable of thriving in a fast paced, challenging work environment and demonstrate initiative and eagerness to learn.

  • Own, Lead and drive an important function of the technology team and its objective’s.

  • Strong Engineering background in technologies to guide team technically.

  • People management and team culture is your passion.

  • Delivery and people management of highly critical technology programs which consist of multiple technology projects for multiple Business Partners and Stakeholders, across multiple Business units.

  • The incumbent will be responsible for managing resources, technology direction, and alignment of business technology roadmaps.

  • Vendor management and engagement for technology solutions ensuring synergistic utilization of vendor partnerships while simultaneously containing costs. Holding vendors accountable for quality of deliverables and service provision.

  • Responsible for monthly financials and allocation for employees and contractors.

  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

 
Do you have the skills and requirements that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:

 

  • The incumbent must have at least 10 years of IT and business/industry work experience.

  • The incumbent will have a bachelor’s or master’s Degree in Computer Science / Computer Engineering.

  • Hands-on engineering experience for at least 3 years is required to lead the engineering team.

  • At least 3 years of people management experience is required.

  • Regulatory application (in CRS, CDIC and FATCA) knowledge and experience from technology side will be added advantage. 

  • Process knowledge and experience in scheduling, resource allocation, risk management and systems design.

  • Critical thinking, continuous improvement, and transformation in leading the group delivering high performance while aligning to group and Bank’s strategic direction.

  • Experience in vendor management, including contract negotiations and managing outsourcers.

  • Willing to carry a pager for production support off hours (for escalation)
