Leads and oversees a technology application and team, ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
• Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
• Provide overall leadership and technical guidance that enables creative delivery of Canadian Banking Products Engineering solutions.
• Responsible for the overall Canadian Banking Products Engineering solution end-to-end ensuring that designs are modern, resilient and cost-effective
• Responsible for ensuring that software is delivered on time, resilient, on budget and in a way that meets the business expectations.
• Owns manage and maintain thorough understanding of the Canadian Banking Products Engineering system capabilities, gaps and opportunities.
• Provide analytic support in the development and implementation of strategic plans.
• Assist in the review and evaluation of business initiatives, product and projects and formulate insightful guidance and input to business leaders.
• Manage a global development team in delivery of your annual objectives and support your business partners in their various timelines.
• Own, maintain, support and enhance existing applications, including regular code reviews for release activities, production issue analysis and root cause analysis for production outages and implementation issues.
• Assist product owners and business analysts in discovering the current system behavior and provide recommendations on improving the current system.
• Participate in Architecture Review and manage budget
• Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
• Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline.
• You have 4-6 years of work-related experience within the Financial Services Industry.
• You have experience in consumer banking products and Business process management products
• You have 2+ years experience in delivery of large scale programs and global products
• Specialized knowledge of PEGA systems (BPN) would be an asset.
• Strong and proven analytical skills
• Strong working knowledge business solutioning, documentation and process mapping
• Strong technical solution management experience and skills
• Ability to work autonomously under tight timelines
• Ability to work in a dynamic environment where processes and procedures are consistently refined
• Strong capability to work with senior business leaders
• Strong verbal, written and communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Strong people management skills and experience
