Global Technology Applications (GTA) is the fast-moving, award-winning technology engine that powers Scotiabank’s Corporate and Investment Banking and Capital Markets businesses.


The Role


Do you enjoy working closely with end-users, Business Analysts, and team members to understand business requirements that drive the analysis and design of quality technical solutions? Must take an interest in understanding the business functions of the end-users? Do you have experience Investigating, analyzing, developing and maintaining a strong knowledge of trading workflows, technology and market structure to ensure most streamlined approaches are implemented?


We’re looking for a seasoned hands-on Senior Manager, Business Analysis with strong technical skills and experience in market risk systems to manage the Business Analyst team in RiskWareHouse (RWH) to support and implement business critical features for Trade Floor Management (TFRM) to facilitate risk management and trading.




  • Lead the BA team to perform business analysis and testing for new business requirement such as implementing new limits, onboarding new product, and calculating new market risk measures.
  • Manage production support activities and identified opportunities to reduce support activities through automation.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify and streamline business logic in the system, such as using centralized data platforms for incoming data, standardizing calculation procedures, etc.
  • Build knowledge repository of the system and ensure the BA team is cross trained to handle both production support and enhancement requests across business lines.
  • Work with delivery manager on new project scoping, sizing and implementation for major new initiatives.
  • Manage the BA team and project recruitment, retention and staff performance
  • Hands investigation and solutioning on complicated data driving issues in production and testing




  • Knowledge on capital market products, valuation and market risk metrics
  • Expert knowledge on SQL and hands on experience working on large data warehouse
  • Experience working with at least 3 out of the following business lines:  Fixed Income Rates, Fixed Income Credit, Equity Derivatives, Commodities and FX.
  • Minimum 2 years experience managing a team
  • Ability to navigate through large amounts of data to grasp data structure, flow, and dependency in both windows and Linux environment
  • Experience with preparing presentation decks around application roadmap to senior management
  • Strong appetite for learn new technology and have strategic mindset on leveraging new technology to reduce the manual effort on BA team’s operational activities
  • Strong communication skills, systematic approach, and ability to build rapport with business stakeholders
