Purpose

The Senior Manager, Merchant Services – Engagement contributes to the profitability and revenue growth of the Global Business Payments portfolio through the development and maintenance of business clients’ payment products and initiatives that maximize market share and client growth opportunities.

 

The Senior Manager is responsible for the overall merchant experience across all business segments (Small Business, Commercial and Corporate) and will work closely with the segment stakeholders and the Partner on building out go-to-market strategies for new product launches and refresh of existing capabilities.  The Manager will work on identifying, understanding, and meeting specific merchant needs and addressing pain points arising through merchant feedback.  Success in this role will be demonstrated by improved retention and satisfaction, while growing new opportunities with existing clients.    

 

In this role, the  Senior Manager will work independently, receiving direction from the Leadership team and will also participate in a collaborative and coordinated fashion with interdivisional product and sales groups, such as Global Brand and Marketing, Bank’s Operational organizations (Legal Counsel, Risk and Compliance, AML, Call Centre, Accounting, Systems, Finance, Credit Solutions and Customer Service, etc.). The Senior Manager must also be comfortable in managing a complex array of external vendors and partners.  

 

Because of the complexities involved in this product line, prior relevant experience in product management, product engagement or product development would be a highly desirable asset. 

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead go-to-market strategies with the Partner and internal stakeholders to ensure success of new product capabilities are understood and are utilized across key segments and within the distribution network.  
  • Build-out merchant services governance framework and engagement roadmap (including ongoing training programs) in collaboration with all the stakeholders and the Partner.
  • In collaboration with the Partner, internal stakeholders and based on market insights, develop, and deploy mass and targeted acquisition and switch offers to new and existing merchants.
  • Present competitive intel and key insights in the current and adjacent markets with a focus on emerging industry trends, customer needs, key market markets, new segments and developing technologies.  
  • Creates an environment in which the Partner and internal stakeholders pursue effective and efficient operations, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations of operational risk, regulatory and compliance risk.
  • Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviors; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and managing succession and development planning for the team.

 

What You'll Bring:

  •  Degree / post graduate degree, preferably in business
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in the merchant services and/or payment industry 
  • 5 - 10 years’ experience in people, stakeholder and vendor management.

 

Work Arrangement:

Work in a standard office-based environment.
