What your role will be…

Senior Manager, Upmarket Solutions – Toronto, ON

 

Contributes to the overall success of Small Business Banking in Canada, supporting the Small Business Distribution Team’s business strategies and objectives while also ensuring all activities are conducted in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

 

The Senior Manager, Upmarket Solutions leads a team of Solutions Managers in the provision of Small Business underwriting support focusing on credits >$1MM across all industry segments.

 

 

What you will be doing…

  • Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

 

  • Manages and delegates assignment of workload across the team, guaranteeing adherence to and elevation of internal service benchmarks. Leverages data and insights to analyze team performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions.

 

  • Oversees the provision of underwriting support for small business credits exceeding $1MM across various industry segments. Provides strategic advice and recommendations on deal structuring and policy interpretation

 

  • Maintains strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders, ensuring their needs are met and expectations exceeded.

 

  • Collaborates with Small Business Executive Office and partners to identify and make recommendations on opportunities for improvement and enhancement of policy and processes in order to enhance the quality of service provided and overall client satisfaction.

 

  • Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

 

  • Creates an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct, and Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk.

 

  • Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and by using a coaching mindset and behaviors; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and, managing succession and development planning for the team.

 

What you need to succeed…

  • Strong organizational skills to manage and prioritize a number of concurrent requests and to organize overall team workflows
  • Experience with Commercial Mid Market underwriting and adjudication standards and practices
  • Expert knowledge of financial statement and credit risk analysis
  • Strong coaching and team management skills
  • Proven ability to work in a fast paced and demanding environment where frequent review of priorities is required to accommodate urgent requests
  • University degree or equivalent work experience required.

Working Conditions: Work in a hybrid and standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence. Office location in downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
