Purpose 
 

Contributes to the overall success of the strategy and implementation of key initiatives and sustainment programs that drive continuous engagement and growth of our Scotia Wealth Management (SWM) Total Wealth offerings among clients, businesses, and internal partners across Scotiabank.  This includes providing training, coaching and resources to key in-field roles across our SWM Client Solutions team and Wealth Management lines of business. Reporting to the Director, Specialized Programs and Client Strategies, the incumbent is a key member of the Practice Excellence team. 

The Practice Excellence team provides training, practice management and analytical solutions that are aligned to SWM’s strategic priorities and is focused on enabling our in-field advisory teams and leaders to effectively run and grow Total Wealth businesses at every stage of the employee life cycle.

 

Accountabilities
 

  • Lead training program development, implementation and sustainment:
    • Builds training and drives program adoption of specialized programs that are designed to meet the evolving needs of clients, drives high engagement from advisor/relationship manager teams and enables the delivery of Scotia Wealth Management’s Total Wealth strategy.

    • Key flagship development programs include Total Wealth programs and the Scotiabank Women Initiative.
    • Facilitates and delivers adult learning content nationally in large, medium and small groups virtually and in person
    • Develops strategies and tactics to incorporate identified industry and internal best practices into the programs and initiatives delivered

 

  • Lead development and delivery of Scotia Wealth Client Solutions content:
    • Manages a team of content writers to support the development of visual and written communications for presentations and internal promotion of program content, marketing writing for internal and external audience

    • Leads and coordinates program events and initiatives, including the program content development, client outreach, communications, and logistics with internal and external vendors, SMEs and stakeholders
    • Collaborates with the Client Solutions team and key stakeholders to optimize internal processes and tools to improve the client and advisor/relationship manager experience
    • Manage the third-party risk management process and vendor onboarding process for all training program and content initiatives

 

  • Works closely with the Director to develop strategic initiatives to support business growth strategy:
    • Contribute to the annual strategic business planning process to ensure training programs and content support the overarching Scotia Wealth Management goals to deliver more Total Wealth to existing clients; grow through external clients; and enable growth through all-bank partnerships

    • Continually measure and report the effectiveness of strategic initiatives to ensure investment in training programs and contents are creating value for advisors, relationship managers and clients
    • Create strategic reporting dashboards, presentations and communications to support executive communications on the effectiveness of program content and training
    • Thoughtfully manage training investments to drive scale and effectiveness across all programs
    • Contributes to other key initiatives and targeted programs intended to reflect the diverse client communities we serve, develop new opportunities, facilitate the sharing of best practices, and deepen relationships across the bank.
    • Manages and build strategic relationships with internal and external strategic relationships to ensure successful business outcomes and alignment with Scotia Wealth Management’s growth strategy.

       

  • Champions a client-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge

 

  • Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

 

  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

Education / Experience / Other Information

 

  • University degree or equivalent
  • Deep understanding of Wealth Management Business lines
  • 5+ years of experience in learning and training the wealth management, banking or financial services industry, is an asset
  • Bilingual in English and French is an asset
  • Experience in building innovative yet practical adult learning programs
  • Strong project and learning program management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects at the same time
  • Superior training facilitation and delivery skills in large, medium and small groups virtually and in person
  • Deep industry knowledge (+ preferably Canadian Wealth Management Business knowledge)
  • Firm grasp of different advisory model and industry client trends
  • Understanding of client mindset via the advisor lens
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
