Scotiabank Canadian Banking Engineering (CBE) is looking for a Senior Manager with a strong strategic mindset, a passion for technology and innovation and a proven ability to solve complex, ambiguous problems. In this highimpact role, you will be responsible for shaping the Technology organization’s future direction, including its North Star vision, multiyear technology roadmap and AI strategy. This position is focused on strategy development and advisory and plays a critical role in ensuring Technology strategy is clear, aligned and outcomedriven.
Reporting into Director, Strategy and Operations, you will work closely with Technology senior leadership and key partners across the Bank to define strategic choices, evaluate emerging technology and opportunities and translate vision into clear, cohesive roadmaps that guide investment and execution across Canadian Banking Engineering.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
• Partner with stakeholders across CBE and other areas to define and evolve the Technology North Star vision ensuring alignment with enterprise and business strategies
• Lead the development of the Technology strategy including platform and capability strategy modernization priorities and technology investment themes
• Shape and advance the Technology AI strategy including identifying strategic use cases enabling capabilities and alignment with responsible AI and regulatory expectations
• Translate strategic direction into integrated, multiyear technology roadmaps, identifying key milestones, dependencies and outcomes
• Support Technology strategic planning cycles, ensuring alignment between strategy, investment priorities and delivery roadmaps
• Conduct industry research, competitive benchmarking and technology and AI trend analysis to inform strategic recommendations
• Develop clear, compelling strategic narratives, points of view and executivelevel materials to support senior leadership decisionmaking
• Serve as a trusted strategic advisor to Technology leaders on complex, ambiguous problems requiring structured analysis and clear recommendations
• Lead strategy working sessions, problemsolving workshops and executive discussions focused on futurestate technology direction
• Partner with finance, architecture, data and delivery teams to connect strategy to investment planning and value realization
• Define and track strategylevel outcomes and metrics aligned to the Technology North Star
• Ensure Technology strategy is supported by appropriate governance and decision forums without owning operational cadence or execution tracking
• Maintain awareness of the Bank’s risk appetite and regulatory environment, ensuring strategic choices are informed and prudent
• Build strong relationships with stakeholders across Technology, Business Lines, Enterprise Strategy, Finance, Risk and Data
• Champion the Bank’s values and contribute to a culture of clarity, innovation, collaboration and inclusivity
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:
• 8+ years experience in technology strategy, management consulting or large-scale technology transformation, ideally within financial services or a regulated environment
• Undergraduate degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Business or a related field, MBA degree highly preferred
• Demonstrated experience defining strategy, including translating vision into roadmaps and strategic priorities
• Experience working closely with senior technology and business leaders in complex organizations
• Strong understanding of emerging technologies and AI and their strategic application at scale
• Exceptional strategic thinking and structured problem-solving skills
• Ability to operate effectively in ambiguity, shaping clarity and direction where it does not yet exist
• Strong executive communication skills, including written briefs, presentation decks and strategic storytelling
• Influential leadership style with the ability to drive alignment without formal authority
• Analytical mindset, able to interpret complex information and distill actionable insights
• Ability to deliver results in a fast-paced, challenging and dynamic environment
• Superior interpersonal skills and highly developed relationship management capabilities
• Proven track record delivering innovative solutions from concept through strategic alignment
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Note: This is an individual contributor role focused on technology strategy roadmap development and strategic advisory.
