The Role
The Senior Manager is responsible for coordinating the end‑to‑end preparation, production, and delivery of tax reporting for globally held assets across Prime Brokerage, Scotia Capital Inc., Scotia Wealth Management, iTRADE, Scotia Trust, BNS Custody Services, and BNS Foreign Subsidiaries.
This role ensures all activities comply with applicable regulatory requirements, internal controls, and Bank policies. Acting as a key connector across tax, technology, and business operations, the Senior Project Specialist supports the seamless execution of tax reporting deliverables through strong project management discipline, stakeholder collaboration, and proactive issue resolution.
You will work closely with the Tax Reporting Director, QI and CRA senior managers, Global Taxation, and various business line partners to drive efficiency, accuracy, and continuous improvement in the annual tax campaign.

- Ensure consistent best practices across client coverage, escalation, and incident resolution; identify opportunities for process improvements and operational synergies.
- Oversee assigned staff responsibilities and support the development and maintenance of performance metrics and evaluations.
- Uphold Scotiabank’s compliance and risk frameworks, protecting the Bank’s reputation and ensuring adherence to internal and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain high operational efficiency for the Tax Reporting team in alignment with approved policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely regulatory tax processing.
- Support day‑to‑day production administration, planning, and delivery of key production and development activities.
- Apply project management principles to tax production lifecycles, ensuring structured planning, execution, monitoring, and completion of deliverables.
- Partner with cross‑functional tax delivery teams to plan, coordinate, and implement operational tasks and workflow improvements.
- Build and manage the Tax Delivery production schedule and Dry Run schedule; track progress and proactively address production disruptions.
- Work closely with technology teams to address code defects, assess risks, and implement workarounds as needed.
- Create and manage detailed project plans, ensuring stakeholders are aligned on timelines, dependencies, and responsibilities.
- Coordinate technical testing and production environment setup; manage development items for continuous improvement and regulatory updates.
- Lead production status meetings, including preparing agendas, documenting risks/issues, and maintaining project artifacts.
- Drive process optimization through continuous improvement methodologies and situational leadership.
- Facilitate cross‑functional discussions to enhance the quality and efficiency of the tax reporting process.
- Develop and maintain the annual tax calendar, analyzing processes to improve production effectiveness.
- Integrate Scotiabank’s risk appetite and values into daily decisions and operations.
- Ensure strong controls and compliance with operational, AML/ATF, sanctions, and conduct risk requirements.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We’d love to work with you if you have:
- University or college degree in Business, Technology, or a related field.
- Prior experience in the financial services sector, ideally within tax reporting, operations, or related functions.
- Practical experience or formal training in project management (e.g., project planning, scheduling, execution, monitoring).
- Prior experience leading/managing a team.
- Strong analytical and reconciliation capabilities, with experience working in data intensive environments.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); MS Project is an asset.
- Working knowledge of the following operational and tax related platforms/systems: Broadridge platforms / TFP / TXSY / CDS / DTCC / BFS / AS400
- Experience supporting technical teams or working with technology partners to address system defects, production issues, testing environments, and code related risks.
- Experience developing or maintaining production schedules, calendars, or structured project plans.
- Background in regulatory or compliance driven environments, ideally involving CRA, QI, FTT, or other tax reporting frameworks.
