The role: 

 

The Senior Manager is responsible for leading Bank-wide supplier management activities, for the assigned category portfolio, providing a holistic view of Enterprise Third Party Supplier relationships across multiple Business Lines and geographic locations. This role is responsible for working across key supplier relationships and to provide insights to drive and inform the collective strategies, innovation agenda and performance measurement/ improvements. This role works across senior levels of the organization, articulates and executes on strategy, drives value creation, and delivers against third party management policies, standards, and procedures.

 

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will: 

 

  • Lead and drive a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Provide category leadership within and across the Bank’s business segments and serve as a key contributor to a well-developed and evolving supplier management process with oversight and accountability for key vendor contracts and performance. 
  • Maintain strong relationships with Business Line and Supplier account executives to enable enterprise views of the third party to develop and drive supplier strategies.
  • Champion a customer focused culture to deepen client and supplier relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Ensure strong third-party management practices aligned to enterprise model are in place to drive continuous improvement.
  • Work with Business Line and Contract Owners to build a pipeline of contract renewals and to consolidate business and contract requirements and opportunities to support Strategic Sourcing leads with renewals and inform sourcing strategies
  • Monitor and consolidates performance to ensure contract compliance and support escalations with an enterprise-wide impact or not resolved at the business level.
  • Develop and facilitates Supplier Meetings.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities, decisions and ongoing monitoring.
  • Lead identification of value creation or supplier savings opportunities with Strategic Sourcing lead and Business Lines
  • Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of their respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook, and the Guidelines for Business Conduct
  • Champion a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates team members by fostering an inclusive work environment, communicating vison/values/business strategy, and managing succession and development planning for the team
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Create an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.
  • Collaborate with strategic supplier managers/strategic sourcing managers and the GPS business partners to ensure ONEGPS support and delivery to our business partners across the Bank.

 

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We’d love to work with you if you have:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in management, business, or related field; master (MA or MSc) in business or related field an asset 
  • Minimum of 5-10 years progressive supplier management experience
  • Global supplier management experience 
  • Excellent change-leadership and conflict resolution management as well as advanced problem solving skills
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills and comfort in speaking with senior leaders at the Bank, including ability to bridge communications between stakeholders with a focus on structuring contracts to deliver against bank’s needs
  • Knowledgeable in financial services and regulations (e.g., OSFI, OCC, CFPB, UDAAP) and how they are applied to Third Party relationships is preferred
  • Ability to comprehend complex technical and financial issues and use them to inform the creation of effective action plans and supplier strategies
  • Strong business acumen and strategic thinking skills
  • Ability to develop collaborative working relationships with global stakeholder groups. Superior interpersonal and communication skills, exhibits a high level of professionalism 
  • Knowledge and experience with state-of-the-art procurement and analysis technologies
  • Knowledge and understanding of Bank Business Units
