Title:  Senior Manager, Strategic Support - Global Risk Management

Requisition ID: 260788

Join a purpose driven winning team, committed to results, in an inclusive and high-performing culture.

Purpose

Acts as a strategic extension of the CRO Office, the Senior Manager, Strategic Support helps shape and deliver the enterprise risk narrative through clear executive decision support and communications. The role supports the CRO indirectly through the Director, Strategy and Investor Support (primary manager), partnering closely to drive business planning, execution oversight, and high-quality materials for senior audiences, with additional support to senior GRM leaders as priorities require. The Senior Manager, Strategic Support brings demonstrated sound judgment, discretion with confidential matters, comfort with ambiguity, and the ability to operate at pace with exceptional attention to detail.

This role provides high exposure to CRO priorities, a broad enterprise view across risk stripes and partners, and senior leadership decision-making, with end-to-end ownership of executive-ready outputs.

Accountabilities

Departmental planning & oversight

  • Own preparation and coordination of the CRO’s agenda, including briefing notes, pre-reads, and stakeholder inputs, to ensure discussions are focused, decisions are well-framed, and time is spent on the highest-value priorities.
  • Drive decision tracking and follow-through by converting meetings into clear actions, owners, and deadlines using a GRM-wide action tracker.
  • Run a weekly operating cadence (intake, prioritization, and status reviews) to keep CRO and GRM leadership aligned on top priorities and delivery risks.

Strategic problem solving

  • Frame ambiguous problems into structured questions, hypotheses, and workplans that enable senior leaders to make timely trade-offs.
  • Synthesize implications from market trends and global regulatory developments into decision-ready insights for GRM priorities and communications.
  • Develop strategic recommendations by coordinating inputs from subject matter experts, business line leads, and corporate partners to produce clear options and impacts.

Communications strategy

  • Lead development of Board and executive-ready materials by converting complex risk topics into crisp storylines, talking points, and Q&A.
  • Maintain a “key risk narrative pack” that integrates key themes, progress, and forward look for senior GRM and external audiences.
  • Support internal business communication strategy and execution across management meetings, Town Halls, and key partner events to ensure consistent messaging.

Stakeholder management and cross-functional delivery

  • Enable alignment across risk stripes, business lines, and corporate functions by proactively bridging silos and resolving conflicts without formal authority.
  • Contribute to quarterly and annual reporting by coordinating with GRM, Finance, business lines, and stakeholders to ensure narrative and numbers are consistent.
  • Support planning and coordination of events that feature the CRO internally and externally, partnering with Global Communications and investor relations to ensure message discipline across audiences.

Analytics and continuous improvement

  • Drive last-mile execution and quality control of Excel and PowerPoint inputs from multiple stakeholders, synthesizing them into a single set of executive-ready key messages with strict accuracy and version discipline
  • Improve how the CRO Office operates by redesigning workflows, standardizing templates, and leveraging Copilot (or similar tools) for drafting, synthesis, and automation with strong quality controls

Education/Experience

  • Undergraduate degree in business or related field. Master’s degree and/or MBA is an asset
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in top-tier management consulting, or investor relations experience considered an asset.
  • Banking industry expertise is highly recommended; risk management experience is an asset.
  • Experience running complex projects with a large group of cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Structured problem solver with strong planning and analytical capability, able to isolate and prioritize critical business issues.
  • Executive communicator with clear, concise verbal and written skills for senior, non-technical audiences.
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint expertise, producing executive-ready support materials.
  • Strong relationship builder with the ability to influence across the Bank without formal authority.
  • Highly detail-oriented and organized, with disciplined quality control under tight deadlines.
  • Proficient with Copilot (or similar tools) to support drafting, synthesis, analysis, and workflow automation with appropriate quality controls.
  • Proven ability to deliver results in a fast-paced, complex, and evolving environment.
  • Self-directed and collaborative, effective working independently and across teams.
  • Ability to perform other duties as assigned to support CRO priorities as business needs evolve.
  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
