The Senior Manager, Strategic Planning provides strategic and operational, business planning support under the Director, Strategic Support Canadian banking working closely with VP- Strategy and Planning, SVP-Transformation Office (TO) and serves as a key partner to the broader Chief Operating Officer (COO) team. The role enhances the effectiveness of the strategic support function by driving alignment on priorities, strengthening operating rhythms, and enabling clearer, faster decision‑making across Canadian Banking.

 

Working closely with the Strategy and Planning and Transformation Office (SPTO) leadership team, the Senior Manager provides structure, insights, and coordination that elevate execution, reinforce governance, and help build the foundations for sustained success.

 

In this role, you will

 

Executive Support & Priority Management

 

  • Anticipate SPTO needs, manage workflows, and ensure focus on the most critical strategic and operational priorities.
  • Provide high‑quality synthesis, insights, and recommendations to support effective and timely decision‑making.
  • Track actions, risks, and dependencies to drive disciplined follow‑through on commitments.

 

Governance & Leadership Forum Management

 

  • Support planning and execution of SPTO leadership forums, including LT meetings, offsites, and decision‑making sessions.
  • Work closely with the Director, Strategic Support to coordinate CB‑head level governance (e.g., MPC, management meetings, quarterly offsites).
  • Ensure governance routines are structured, outcome‑driven, and aligned with business priorities.

 

Operating Rhythm & Process Optimization

 

  • Establish and maintain predictable operating cadences that enhance transparency, accountability, and consistent delivery.
  • Support initiatives to drive simplification and optimization of processes, reduce friction and accelerate execution.
  • Collaborate closely with the Transformation Office to embed operational excellence practices.

 

Strategic Mechanisms (OKRs, QBRs, Prioritization)

 

  • Support SPTO to operationalize OKRs, quarterly business reviews (QBRs), and prioritization frameworks within the COO organization.
  • Manage the CB Resolution Room, owning the set-up, updates and consistency of content and the execution of CB-wide events
  • Monitor progress, highlight risks, and ensure strategic mechanisms drive alignment and measurable outcomes.

 

Communication, Alignment & Cross‑Functional Collaboration

 

  • Strengthen information flow and collaboration across teams, business lines, and partner functions.
  • Work with Communications & Change Management to ensure messaging is timely, consistent, and aligned with COO and CB priorities.
  • Develop and own key documentation to communicate the SPTO strategy, roadmaps and execution
  • Promote a culture of shared accountability and “win as one team” execution across partner groups.

 

Reporting, Insights & Performance Visibility

 

  • Manage end-to-end tracking of SPTO KPIs, ensuring benefits, timelines, dependencies and drivers are accurately monitored and reported for timely leadership review and discussion.
  • Ensure all reporting mechanisms are accurate, timely and grounded in strong data-driven insights to support informed decision-making across the SPTO and COO portfolios.

 

Stakeholder Engagement & Relationship Management

 

  • Build and manage strong working relationships with senior leaders, Strategy & Planning, Transformation Office, Finance, and other cross-functional teams.
  • Facilitate alignment across diverse stakeholders to advance the SPTO’s agenda and deliver business priorities.

  • Ability to influence and collaborate across diverse teams and senior stakeholders.
  • Minimum Bachelors degree (Business degree preferred)
  • Exceptional MS Excel and Powerpoint skills
