Purpose
The Senior Manager, Canadian Wealth Management (CWM) Partnerships & Priority Segments is part of a high-performing central team pivotal in driving growth and client-centric strategies with CWM and the Canadian Bank. This role works directly with the leadership team in CWM Partnerships & Priority Segments and includes supporting a diverse set of stakeholders in the development, communication and planning of the team’s strategy aligned with bank-wide strategy, this role works indirectly with Regional Directors to design and implement strategies and tools to drive their business.
The Senior Manager is responsible for contributing to increasing Scotia Wealth Management’s revenue and profitability for High-Net-Worth clients (target threshold >$750,000 in investable assets) by facilitating the strategic planning process, generating recommendations, proposing and leading strategic initiatives that may cross multiple channels in Wealth while championing Total Wealth, strengthening collaboration across the Bank and identifying growth opportunities with internal and external partners in priority segments.
What you will be doing:
Strategy, Strategic Initiatives and Business planning
- Lead a broad range of strategy engagements, including partnerships strategy development, GWM referral model, virtual strategies, online referrals model (internal and external), team’s value prop, client journeys, market and growth strategies, function and capabilities reviews, and operating model design, among others.
- Lead the long-term strategy and vision for the Partnerships team, aligned to Total Wealth and supporting the accelerated growth projections for CWM Advisory and Canadian Banking.
- Support Senior Management by proposing initiatives aimed at the achievement of financial goals/targets for the division. This includes taking an enterprise-wide approach to support the growth of two-way referrals across the Canadian Bank and Wealth Management.
- Manage strategic initiatives involving cross-functional teams across business lines with activities including competitive / business environment research and benchmarking to determine emerging issues and trends, analyze the impact / implications of those trends on various strategic plans, and preparing / presenting compelling strategic recommendations to leadership.
- Design and lead problem solving sessions, workshops, and interviews with cross-functional / business line working team members and subject matter experts to drive critical thinking.
- Align strategic planning, related communication, and change management activities with business partners. Plan, monitor and communicate progress to results, in alignment with partner expectations
- Support planning process and operational functions in the execution and ongoing management of strategic planning with key business lines to ensure alignment with the Bank’s strategic plan.
- Design and streamline existing processes to improve client, employee, and partner experience - make it easier to do business with us.
- Ensure the operating model adopts a growth and continuous improvement mindset as the business continues to evolve in a shifting and global environment.
Design a successful end-to-end client experience and client journey by bringing the whole bank to the client through the WMCs / Partnerships team. - Assist and support Senior Management, and Regional/Market Directors in developing effective practice management processes and techniques for the partnerships team. This includes the engagement of Client Solutions National Office where required to support the development, implementation and sustainment of practice management processes/techniques relating specifically to insurance, financial planning, and other business offerings. As well as supports the development and implementation of sales management and coaching practices, tools, to drive business results.
- Champion and facilitate the sharing of best practices across CWM partnerships and key areas to enhance productivity, sales effectiveness, client experience, process improvements and client/partner experience.
Thought Leadership
- Acts as a trusted partner to Senior Management, helping them define priorities and establish plans ensuring they are set up to achieve them.
Assist with organizing strategy offsites for Senior Management to facilitate ongoing discussions around business line strategies and all-Bank strategy. - Drive and collaborate cross-functionally across the business and corporate functions to remove barriers and achieve milestones.
- Support the delivery of the Total Wealth Evolved strategy and act as a trusted partner to Canadian Banking and to Global Wealth Management advisory colleagues.
- This includes the identification of trends, setting benchmarks and performance standards. The incumbent will also be called upon to lead a variety of financial analysis projects aimed at improving business profitability.
Communications
- Support senior management agenda, including Partnership’s strategy, partnerships’ value creation projects, strategic planning, executive-level communications and presentation, and others as required.
- In close partnership with GWM and CWM communications and marketing teams, identify strategic communication opportunities, lead coordination and planning of events (e.g. National Conference), National Calls, and ensure consistent messaging across all groups of stakeholder.
- Synthesize findings and present clear recommendations and implementation plans to ensure impactful project outcome, drive referral flow, and client primacy to senior leaders within CWM.
- Effectively communicate insights from data and analytics to drive referral flow, client primacy and implement performance metrics to drive results across business lines.
- Liaise with marketing & communications on campaigns plan, client and partner facing materials – print & online.
- Develop sales tools and skill builds to grow partnerships, improve client primacy, and elevate WMC impact.
- Ensure consistent management of brand and content, including portal management, partnerships communications, and other resources, etc.
Team Leadership and Stakeholder Management
- Contribute to building the partnerships team, including support in recruiting, coaching, knowledge development, reward and recognition program, and HR updates as required.
- Champion a high-performance environment and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates top talent by fostering an inclusive work environment.
- Foster and maintain collaborative relationships with key internal and external stakeholders including senior management to support the achievement of deliverables and overall objectives.
- Build and foster collaborative networks with key partners across the Scotiabank Group at the National Office level, as well as supporting Regional/Market Directors in their partnership engagement initiatives.
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of the respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to, and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

- 5+ years of management experience, including in product, finance, pricing or strategy role(s).
- Undergraduate degree (or equivalent diploma) required; graduate degree an asset
- Experience in Private Banking, Wealth Management, Commercial Banking, Product and Pricing functions
- Knowledge of lending, deposits, payments and retail/commercial channels
- Experience leading product development initiatives
- Strong facilitator, with the ability to lead team of senior contributors to overall objectives
- Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and manage relationships across the bank
