Senior Manager Strategic Initiatives, Global Insurance, GWM (16-month Contract) 

 

Purpose
Drive the success of Global Insurance by ensuring the effective execution of individual and team goals, plans, and initiatives that support the business’s strategic objectives. 

The Senior Manager, Strategic Initiatives partners closely with the Director, Executive Support, the Global Insurance Leadership Team, and a broad network of stakeholders to develop and deliver both strategic and day-to-day business needs.

 

What You’ll Do:

•    Champion and advance critical business initiatives, collaborating with senior leadership to translate strategic vision into actionable results.
•    Lead the Global Insurance Investment Committee, overseeing project execution, monitoring budget adherence, and proactively surfacing risks for leadership discussion.
•    Manage projects end-to-end in partnership with key stakeholders, ensuring timely and effective delivery of all commitments.
•    Support core business functions—including planning, reporting, communications, and presentation development—in close collaboration with the Director, Strategic Support.
•    Engage executive leaders and stakeholders to identify opportunities, define project scope, secure necessary approvals, and drive executive alignment.
•    Collaborate with internal and external partners to generate insights and deepen understanding of business performance.
•    Prepare high-impact executive presentations (e.g., MPC, Retail Business Review, Insurance QBR) and support in-country leaders with business review materials.
•    Synthesize quantitative and qualitative business data, identify opportunities for operational synergies, and develop actionable recommendations validated with stakeholders.
•    Shape and execute the business’s communication strategy, ensuring consistent and effective messaging across internal channels, including management meetings, town halls, and staff events.
•    Lead the development and optimization of executive reporting, including board packages, business highlights, and executive commentary.
•    Coordinate reporting deliverables by liaising with leadership and data owners across functions.
•    Oversee KPI development and reporting for Global Insurance, tracking progress and driving accountability.
•    Serve as a key liaison with business partners such as Finance, Operations, Retail Banking, Enterprise Strategy, and relevant committees.
•    Assist the Director in coordinating executive council meetings, offsites, and town halls, ensuring action items are tracked and completed.
•    Monitor the execution of the Global Insurance Scorecard and business initiatives.
•    Facilitate strategic working sessions with stakeholders across Global Insurance and the Bank.
•    Foster a high-performance, inclusive work environment and build strong collaborative relationships across Canadian Banking, International Banking, and Wealth Management.
•    Integrate the Bank’s risk appetite and culture into daily decision-making and operations.
•    Ensure operational effectiveness and compliance with Scotiabank’s Values, Code of Conduct, and Global Sales Principles, maintaining robust business controls and meeting all regulatory obligations, including AML/ATF and conduct risk.

 

What You'll Bring
•    Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required, 
•    Minimum of 5 years of experience in the financial services industry
•    Proven track record in strategy development, including in-depth experience and demonstrated success in leading multi-disciplinary initiatives of varying sizes and complexity, efficiently and effectively, ensuring all elements of change are considered, understood and managed. 
•    Strong written and verbal communication skills
•    Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high-quality standards
•    Thrives under pressure and meets tight deadlines
•    Demonstrated ability in dynamic and changing environments
•    Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple concurrent initiatives  
•    Strong analytical and planning capabilities
•    Effective leadership and interpersonal skills; foster collaboration across all organizational levels
•    Trusted partner to senior management, business lines and cross-functional teams
•    Skilled in problem solving, with strong organizational and administrative agility
•    Spanish is an asset 

Work Arrangement: 
Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence.
