The Senior Manager, Retail Mutual Funds Business Initiatives plays a critical role in shaping and advancing the business strategy of Scotia Securities Inc. (SSI) by overseeing the execution of high-impact initiatives. The incumbent will play a leadership role supporting the Director, Retail Mutual Funds Issues & Initiatives Management to establish the business initiatives framework ensuring the necessary rigor, strategic alignment, structure and execution monitoring are in place to meet business objectives in compliance with governing regulations and internal policies and procedures.

 

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

  • Develop, implement, and establish the ongoing oversight model of how business initiatives will be initiated, executed, and governed to enable effective communication, proactive resource planning and ensure seamless execution
  • Lead the intake and validation of initiatives in a central repository and maintain regular reporting as required
  • Participate and lead various initiatives at multiple levels that may run concurrently, including business-wide initiatives or business-specific initiatives that impact SSI, Scotia Financial Planning (SFP), Canadian Banking Retail Investments, and/or Tangerine Investment Funds Limited (TIFL)
  • Participate in presentations and meetings with stakeholders to help gather requirements, devise solutions, and communicate plans and status updates as required
  • Establish effective working relationships and coordinate with key stakeholders and partners across Global Wealth Management, Canadian Banking, Canadian Banking Contact Centre, and Global Operations to proactively identify and communicate potential risks and drive the issue management strategy
  • Create an environment in which the team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk
  • Build a high-performance environment and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behavior
  • Communicate the vision, values, and business strategy and manage succession and development planning for the team

 

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We’d love to work with you if you have:

  • 5 plus years’ experience in financial services, preferably in a Wealth Management/Retail Banking Distribution environment
  • Demonstrated success working with and leading multi-disciplinary initiatives of varying sizes and complexity, efficiently and effectively, ensuring that all elements of change are considered, understood, and managed
  • Knowledge and experience with industry platforms including RPM, IP, Smart Investor, Fundserv and PEGA
  • Project Management and change management experience will be highly advantageous, along with strong organizational skills to co-ordinate and prioritize several concurrent initiatives
  • A strong understanding of regulatory and compliance framework CIRO, CSA
  • Strong experience in developing communications, briefings, and presentations to senior executives, with proficiency in MS Excel, Power Point, etc.
  • Experience working in a team environment and a proven ability in providing guidance to promote effective communication, objective thinking and cooperation
  • Effective communication skills both written and verbal
