The Senior Manager, Retail Credit Risk Modernization contributes to the success of various strategic projects and programs for the Retail Credit Risk Canada segment of the Global Risk Management transformation project. The Senior Manager will play a key role in shaping the future of the Retail Credit Risk function, strengthening our risk management capabilities for effective challenge and proactively making enhancements.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
- Support the strategy design, coordination and implementation of strategic projects to ensure effective execution by:
- Leading and supporting the implementation of initiatives within Retail Credit Risk Transformation, a program that spans Retail credit risk, including Unsecured Lending, Real Estate Secured Lending, and Automotive Finance.
- Coordinating with partners and appropriate stakeholders to identify opportunities, enable alignment across teams throughout all stages of development and execution, and drive efficiencies and consolidate disparate processes for timely program execution.
- Using agile methods to complete projects despite changing priorities; escalate issues as needed.
- Ensuring project adherence to schedules by supporting activities and stakeholders.
- Aligning individual working teams within the overall program framework.
- Clearly communicating scope, outcomes, and deliverables to stakeholders.
- Identifying automation opportunities within Retail Credit Risk Transformation then supports the design and implementation of sustainable solutions.
- Maintaining detailed project files for retention and audits.
- Championing a high-performance environment and contributing to an inclusive work environment.
- Supporting the Director, Retail Credit Risk Transformation in obtaining stakeholder and senior management alignment and engagement, and ensuring the success of strategic projects and initiatives.
- Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:
- Post-secondary education: University degree or equivalent experience, Master’s degree preferred.
- 5-7 years of banking experience, ideally within risk management functions.
- Strong understanding and knowledge of the Bank’s Retail Credit Risk segments, including policies and processes, servicing models, distribution channels and products
- Demonstrable success in supporting large-scale transformation initiatives and managing projects involving functionally diverse stakeholders.
- Knowledge of the Retail Bank’s strategy and business objectives.
- Strong analytical skills, with experience using data to drive decision-making and process improvements.
- Strong organizational skills to coordinate and prioritize a number of concurrent projects.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to succinctly convey information to senior management.
- Good understanding of the Bank's informal/formal organization structure from both EO and field perspectives
- Good understanding of internal/external Audit/Compliance systems and procedures
- Knowledge of project planning and tracking techniques.
- Thorough knowledge of Retail credit environments including policies and processes.
- Thorough knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software applications
